Hello rachiero, Just for sake of accuracy, where does is say that what Jesus was sweating, was in fact actually blood? You suggested "Jesus sweating blood" Luke 22:44 And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground. Scripture often uses what we call “figures of speech” in this particular case it is a form known as “simile”. It doesn’t say it was blood but it was like blood. Here is another clear example of a simile; John 1:32 And John bore witness saying, "I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him. It wasn’t a dove but “like” a dove. Acts 2:3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. It wasn’t fire, but like fire; those are similes which are one of the easiest figure of speech to recognize. Figures of speech could really confuse a person reading the book of Revelation, since there are numerous different types of figures of speech in use there. We don’t all have the same grasp for grammatical assimilation. Do you get the picture? Have a great day, CDBJ |

CDBJ - Agreed. An allegory. Some technical glitch occurred since kumkum posted the original question about the sweat as drops of blood along with some mention of Judas Iscariot. I replied to him, or so I thought. I do not see my note anywhere. But, think of this: The degree of agony Jesus felt as He was about to go to the cross - Why does the author, prompted by the Holy Spirit, put it the way he did? The author knew what sweat looked like. he knew sweat as any other man, whether it was a light perspiration to a heavy sweating during exertion. But why would he use the words "like drops of blood" as a simile as you say? Was it a reference to the color of the drops? Could Jesus have broken tiny capillaries on his forehead or other places on his face where the strain and stress show up - if so, He literally could have had a mixture of sweat and blood. Which describes agony more - literal drops of sweat or literal drops of blood within the sweat? Obviously they both do, nothwithstanding it was night, the sun was down, and it was spring in Israel. Low humidity, mild temperatures. Jesus did not sweat because of ambient temperature. No, he sweated because of the intensity of His prayer to the Father, blood or no blood. RAC |

Hello Rac, Sometimes idiots will have themselves “tied” up to a cross so they can experience what Jesus went through. That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard of, with out a doubt! With all of the physical abuse that Jesus went through it was nothing compared to the point in time when he finally screamed out; Matthew 27:45-46 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. [46] And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? I don’t believe that anyone could ever experience the pain and agony that Jesus went through when the sins of the world were poured out on him and judged! He had never known what it was like not to have fellowship with God, but God had to forsake His own Son because of sinners like you and me! Jesus knew in the garden when he prayed to the Father exactly what every second was going to be like on that cross and he was willing to take the wrath of God for sin on our behalf. When Jesus, the Son of God, hung on that cross He took our punishment. The Justice of God completely satisfied the Righteousness of God on our behalf, when God’s appointed Man, Jesus, hung there between heaven and earth he took God’s wrath. Praise the Lord, what a Saviour! Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 2 Cor. 5:18-21 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, [19] namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. [20] Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. [21] He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. If anyone reading this forum hasn’t put “all” of your faith and trust in Jesus Christ and what he did for you on the cross, I would beg of you right now that you would tell God the Father, in your own words, that from this point on you are relying and trusting completely in the finished work of Jesus! Have a great day in the Lord, CDBJ |

Brother CDBJ, Your words are touching indeed. Yes, Jesus - the silent Lamb, could be silent no more at the moment when he was forsaken by God his father for our sin. How could we understand! How could we understand! I always have a kind of mixed feeling during Christmas and Easter. Partly joyful (for we are saved and reconciled with God through Jesus) and partly grieved for how Jesus has suffered for us - sinners. We - Chinese, have a saying like "Your pleasure and happiness should not be in the expense of other's misfortune and grief" How ironically is that our hope and salvation is totally depended on Jesus' suffering, death and resurrection. Jesu, joy of men's desiring... Shalom Azure |

Greetings Asure, It’s amazing how Isaiah, under the influence of the Holy Spirit, coined these word so perfectly years in advance of there actual fulfillment. Isaiah 53:1-12 Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? [2] For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of parched ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we should look upon Him, Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him. [3] He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face, He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. [4] Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. [5] But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. [6] All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him. [7] He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth. [8] By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off out of the land of the living, For the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due? [9] His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth. [10] But the Lord was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand. [11] As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities. [12] Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors. Only a matter of time separates those trusting in the Lord from their appointed glory with Christ. Romans 8:17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him. 2 Thes. 1:10 when He comes to be glorified in His saints on that day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed-- for our testimony to you was believed. Have a great day, CDBJ |
