1 | Did Jesus go to hell after dying? | Ephesians | kalos | 26463
Did Jesus spend 3 days in hell? "...the necessity of Jesus having to pay for our sins in hell, under the torment of Satan and his angels, [is] a teaching both unsubstantiated by and contrary to Scripture." (Note: numbers in parentheses are footnote references.) "Joyce Meyer shares the platform from time to time with Word of Faith teachers like, for example, Kenneth Copeland, Jesse Duplantis, Benny Hinn, and T.D. Jakes.(5) Chrisitan Research Institute (CRI) is critical of and concerned with some of her practices and teachings. "In her 1991 booklet, The Most Important Decision You Will Ever Make, she teaches a hallmark doctrine of Faith theology, namely, that Christ had to suffer in hell to atone for our sins and be born again: "During that time He entered hell, where you and I deserved to go (legally) because of our sin….He paid the price there.…no plan was too extreme…Jesus paid on the cross and in hell….God rose up from His throne and said to demon powers tormenting the sinless Son of God, “Let Him go.” Then the resurrection power of Almighty God went through hell and filled Jesus….He was resurrected from the dead -- the first born-again man.(6) "Her assertions are not unlike those of leading Word of Faith proponent Kenneth Copeland, who also believes Christ’s death on the cross was not sufficient to atone for our sins, and that His work of redemption was completed by suffering in hell and being born again. According to Copeland, "When Jesus cried, “It is finished!” He was not speaking of the plan of redemption. There were still three days and nights to go through before He went to the throne….Jesus’ death on the cross was only the beginning of the complete work of redemption.(7) "[The] word of the living God went down into the pit of destruction and charged the spirit of Jesus with resurrection power! Suddenly His twisted, death-wracked spirit began to fill out and come back to life. He began to look like something the devil had never seen before. He was literally being reborn before the devil’s very eyes. He began to flex His spiritual muscles….Jesus was born again -- the first-born from the dead.(8) "According to a recently published interview with free-lance writer Ken Walker, however, Meyer contradictorily denies ever believing or teaching that Christ was born again in hell.(9) "Moreover, in her 1991 booklet, Meyer asserts that salvation is impossible without believing Jesus suffered in hell as the believer’s substitute. Meyer writes, “There is no hope of anyone going to heaven unless they believe this truth I am presenting. You cannot go to heaven unless you believe with all your heart that Jesus took your place in hell.”(10) "While historic Christianity has debated the issue of whether or not Jesus actually descended into hell (e.g., to proclaim the gospel, declare victory, etc. [1 Peter 3:18-19), no orthodox believer ever held to the belief that Christ suffered and atoned for our sins in hell, rather than on the cross. Yet, Word of "Faith teachers, including Joyce Meyer, teach the necessity of Jesus having to pay for our sins in hell, under the torment of Satan and his angels -- a teaching both unsubstantiated by and contrary to Scripture. The entirety of Christ’s atoning work (i.e., His suffering and death in our place) occurred on the cross (e.g., 1 Peter 2:24), ending with His proclamation, “It is finished” (John 19:30). The Christ of Faith theology literally had to become sin, taking on the nature of Satan while in hell, thereby needing to be born again in hell before His resurrection could occur." Hank Hanagraph emphatically does not believe in the power of the Holy Spirit like miricle healing, slain in the spirit, nothing. His main ministry is to cause division and unbelief in the body, no wonder your messed up. A scripture that backs me up is Rom 10:7 Who shall go down to the abyss, that is, Christ out of the dead to bring up. KJV Rom 10:7 or, Who shall descend into the abyss? That is, to bring Christ up from the dead. draweth nigh unto Sheol. Psa 88:4 I am reckoned with them that go down into the pit; I am as a man that hath no help, Psa 88:5 Cast off among the dead, Like the slain that lie in the grave, Whom thou rememberest no more, And they are cut off from thy hand. Psa 88:6 Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, In dark places, in the deeps. Psa 88:7 Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, And thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah NOW I've provided verses to back up my point but I don't see any verses offered by you to back up your point. How about providing some C Vu Play? |

3 | Did Jesus go to hell after dying? | Ephesians | EdB | 26485
Thomas I explained this to you, the word translated hell is Jewish term for the holding place for dead. We see in Luke 16 it described as a hot dry place separated from another called Abraham’s bosom. The hot dry place is where the unrighteous go upon death and Abraham’s bosom was the place where the righteous went before Jesus’ death. Upon Jesus’ death he went and preached Good news to the Abraham’s bosom and lead the captives captive. Once again Satan isn’t in hell, he isn’t the ruler of hell he has nothing to do with the that place. One day at the Great White Throne of Judgement Satan will stand before God and get judged, sentenced and thrown in to the Lake of fire. Then and only then will all the unrighteous that are in hell will also stand before God and get tossed in to the Lake of Fire with him. Now read your Bible and quit listening to the silly evangelist that tell you this junk. EdB |

Hell and the lake are two different places. Hell is the first death and the lake of fire is the second death, where the Bible says Hell will be thrown into. Rev 20:14 and the death and the hades were cast to the lake of the fire--this is the second death; ********** Please don't put words in my mouth then jump in my case about your installed words. ********** Please show in the Bible where Satan isn't the ruler of hell. Hell is in this world and the Bible calls Satan the God of this world because Adam who used to have the godly power to subdue this world gave it to him. That's why God couldn't get some dirt and make another Adam, He didn't have any legal rights to earth any more. It was the legal property of Satan. |

Thomas Calm down and think! Hell is the Jewish word for the holding place of the dead and it has been commonly misused to speak of a place of punishment. Again Hell is divided into two sections. One hot and dry the other paradise or Abraham's bosom read Luke 16. Jesus went to Hell Abraham's bosom to preach the good news and lead captivity captive Eph 4:8. So one side of hell is empty today. Now you say show me one place in the Bible that says Satan isn’t the ruler of hell. You have it wrong show me one place that says he is. Your asking the Bible to disprove an untruth. The Bible does not disprove every untruth it only proves the truth. Now you say God couldn’t get anymore dirt. Do you really think the Being that created heaven and earth could not get more dirt? In Genesis 18 when the Lord talked with Abraham at the Mamre oaks what kept Him from bending over and picking up a handful? You say Adam had godly power to subdue the world. How do you get from God telling Adam to subdue the earth and God transferring Godly power to him, your referring to Gen 1:28 I assume? Does not man subdue the world, are not animals in submission to man. Man has literally changed the face of this world, we have cut, moved, dug, pushed, pulled and shoved nearly everything into the far ends. Now you imply that man had this power and gave it to Satan, where do you see this transfer. Where does it say God got thrown off earth? Where does it say God lost control? If that be so explain Psalm 50:10-12 "For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills. 11"I know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is Mine. 12"If I were hungry I would not tell you, For the world is Mine, and all it contains. Or Psalm 89:11 The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; The world and all it contains, You have founded them. Or Psalm 97:1-2 The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; Let the many islands be glad. 2Clouds and thick darkness surround Him; Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Or Psalm 97:5 The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. I think you get the point. God is God to think he was ever locked off earth is absurd. EdB |

Hell is divided into two sections If Jesus led captivity captive and retrieved the faithful out of there, why would it still need to exist? **** show me one place in the Bible that says Satan isn’t the ruler of hell. You have it wrong I stated the exact opposite. Since Adam gave Satan all rights and powers to Adams domain, Satan has legal ownership of it and hell is in this world that Satan now owns. ***** Now you say God couldn’t get anymore dirt. Do you really think the Being that created heaven and earth could not get more dirt? Oh, God has the power to muscle His way around the problem, only one catch, God is a Holy, just God and wouldn't do something dishonest to get back what Satan stole from Him. That is why God had to find someone who would enter into a blood covenant with Him. A blood covenant means that two agree that whatever you own, I own and the other way around. This legally allowed God back into the earth. In the begining, God gave all rights of this world to Adam and God just visited Adam in the cool of the day to chit chat. ********* Does not man subdue the world, are not animals in submission to man * Try walking up to a lion who is now under Satan's authority and demanding that it submit to you. I wouldn't. In heaven the lion shall lay down with the lamb. I get that the lion's diet will change to veggies, not meat, probably like it was in the garden, before the new landlord took over. ** Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. This supports my point, that God could not go back on His word and muscle His way back into the earth. He had to find a legal way to do it and that way was with a blood covenant. I aggree with you, if I was God, I would just kick some unrighteous butt and be done with it. But that would be acting at the level of the unrighteous butt kickee. God is above that and fortunately, wise enough to handle that problem. That problem was solved before the world began because the Bible states that God knows the end from the begining. Nothing surprises Him AAAAAAmen. |

Thomas Wait! let's take this one step at a time. First where does it show Adam gave anything to Satan? Better yet where does it say Adam had anything to give? Satan never got any more power from Adam because Adam never had any power to give him. Secondly hell is in the spirit realm and earth is in the physical. Satan does not want anymore to do with hell than you do so why would he be ruler over it? You use the term legally, what do you think there is a supreme court in the sky? What seems legal to us is nonsense to God. 1 Cor. 3:19-20 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, "He catches the wise in their own craftiness"; [20] and again, "The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile." I submit in your example of the Lion unless he is extremely hungry or injured or his escape is blocked he will flee from you. We have been given dominance over the animals and we kill them, train them, trap them, eat them, use them and that is what the word “dominance” here means. God didn’t have to muscle His way on earth He never lost it. In one of the other posts I listed numerous verses that shows God owns earth and all that is in it. Satan is a created being and even he is subjection to God. Do not elevated Satan and or lower God. There is still the relationship between the created and the creator that has never changed and as long as God is the creator He is over all. EdB |
