1 | Holy Spirit, holy spirit, or both? | 1 Corinthians | Jeff12 | 49532
You wrote: Please re-read my response to your original post, Jeff (5/20/02 8:30 p.m.) regarding your error in saying that there are "two" Holy Spirits. It is illiogical to conclude that the Holy Spirit is "stupid" (not to mention blasphemous to do so) because the Holy Spirit acts not on His own initiative, but that of the Father. Jesus did the same thing during His earthly ministry. Does that make Him stupid? 'Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.' --John 5:19 "I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me." --John 5:30 'Jesus *said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work."' --John 4:34 Thank you! You just wrote the finest argrument against the theology of the Trinity. My belief is that there 1 God, who is Holy and who is Spirit and had a son, Jesus Christ, and at varying times put His spirit either upon man or in man to do His will. If Jesus Christ looked to God then he is not equal to God therefore he is not God. By your own post you have made Jesus Christ not equal to God. There goes the trinity! I respect your God given right to believe as you do however much I disagree with it. But if you belive in Jesus Christ (which I think you do), then we are brothers. Then we have a right to fight over whatever we want! Let God Almighty who has put all things subject to Jesus Christ do the judging. Shall we agree to disagree? |

2 | Holy Spirit, holy spirit, or both? | 1 Corinthians | PastorPaul | 49538
As I was reading over your post, and Reformer Joe’s post to you, I felt the Holy Spirit guiding me to add a little more information for you. The doctrine and views of Jesus Christ are not something that we can say: “Let’s agree to disagree on this.” In fact the correct view of Jesus Christ is necessary for one’s SALVATION. You refer to Almighty God, which implies to me you are coming from a Jehovah Witness View. Let me tell you a few things that the New World Translation failed to do to convince believers that Jesus Christ is not God Almighty. Realize that I’m coming from the view of a born-again, Jesus believing, Biblical Worldview. To respond to your statement I’m going to refer you to 14 verses in the Gospel of John, which points out to the very fact that Christ, Himself, claimed to be Jehovah. Please feel free to look these verses up, but please do not even bother putting them up against your Greek Lexicon, because your Greek Lexicon is the wrong Greek. 14 times in the Gospel of John Jesus Christ makes the statement, “I AM!” Which translated into Hebrew is Jehovah, or God Almighty. Please turn go to you Bible and read these following verses. Please first turn to John 4:25, 26. In this passage Jesus is talking to a Samaritan woman, and she says, “I know the Messiah is coming…” To this comment the Lord Jesus Christ gave a simple response in the English text, but in the original Greek text he said; “I AM!” Maybe that is not enough for you let’s go now to John 6:15-21. In this scripture Jesus sent his disciples to the sea to go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. As the disciples are going to the other side of the sea they see Jesus walking on the water and they are afraid. In response to their fear the Lord Jesus Christ says: “Do not be afraid, I AM.” Once again we have another claim of Jesus being Almighty God. I could go on and on with these verses but let me just list for you several of the verses, and what they say: “I AM, the bread of life.” (Jhn. 6:35) It is interesting that in this scripture it’s followed by verse 41 which says: The Jews therefore were grumbling about Him, because He said, “I AM the bread that came down out of heaven.” The Jews were not grumbling because he claimed to be the bread that came down from heaven, they were grumbling because he said: “I AM!” He claimed to be Almighty God in the flesh. “I AM, the light of the world.” (Jhn. 8:12; 9:5) “I AM.” (Jhn. 8:28) “Before Abraham was born, I AM!” (Jhn. 8:58) Once again in verse 59 of this same chapter the Jews picked up stones to stone Him, why you ask because he claimed, “I AM” Almighty God. “I AM, the door of the sheep.” (Jhn. 10:7) “I AM, the good shepherd.” (Jhn. 10:11) “I AM, the resurrection and the life.” (Jhn. 11:25) “I AM, the way, the truth, and the life.” (Jhn. 14:6) “I AM, the true vine.” (Jhn. 15:1) In Jhn. 18 Jesus is in the Garden of Gethsemane and in verses 4-8 the Romans, and the Jews come to arrest Him. In verse 4 Jesus asks a question, “Whom do you seek?” The people respond that they seek Jesus, and he says in verse 5: “I AM”. Upon hearing this all the people fall face down. Why you ask, because what He said was, “I AM” “God Almighty." I can give you many verses that defend the claim of Christ to be God Almighty, will you receive them is a different question. You belief that you know it all, well I have Greek training, and I’m a minister for the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ, God Almighty, Yahweh, and Jehovah. I will pray that the Holy Spirit will manifest to you all truth. My friend, if you do not believe in Jesus Christ as God, than you are not saved, and we are not brothers. You are in my prayers, Paul Emery Pastor/Founder: Blue Bonnet Ministries |

Does anyone find it interesting that most, if not all, of the "I Am's", are from the Book of John? That bears some thinking about, perhaps. But here's some more from John, other than those cited by "Pastor Paul": John 14:2, In my Father's house, there are many mansions.... John 14: 10...I am in the Father and the Father is in me. The words I say are not my own but are from my Father who lives in me. And he does his work through me. (Very difficult to get "I Am" from the above..) John 14: 15-16: If you love me, obey me; and I will ask the Father and he will give you another Comforter John 14: 23 ...The Father will love them too, and (we) will come to them and live with them... John 14: 24... I am not making up this answer to your question! It is the answer given by the Father who sent me... John 14: 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name...' John 14: 28 ...for now I can go the Father... John 15: 9 ...I have loved you even as the Father has loved me... John 15: 26 ...But I will send you the Comforter--the Holy Ghost, the source of all truth. He will come to you from the Father and will tell you all about me... -------------------- If Jesus's intent is to tell the disciples that they're standing before GOD, then it is an awfully awkward way to do it. And of course, there is more, tons, in fact. All of this might cause a person to think about "I AM" a heap more. Is Jesus, by saying "I AM", merely emphasizing his relationship? "I AM" of the Godly, part of the family, perhaps, is all he's conveying. I guess it depends upon just exactly what a person wants it all to mean, or what someone else has told him it means. It really shouldn't be this difficult, should it? :) |
