Luke 23:34 Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing. Are we wise when we put to death? Rom 12:16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. The death penalty is a way to take our anger out on someone, vengeance. This is an eye for an eye was the old law. Rom 12:17 Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. If you have the opportunity to hurt someone Choose peace instead. Rom 12:18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. Capitol PunishMent Not Capitol Peace Harmony love forgiveness understanding Justice. Rom 12:19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY," says the Lord. God does not want us to do the repaying ourselves. Matt 5:21 "the ancients were told, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER' and 'Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court. But I say everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty, 'You good-for-nothing,' shall be guilty before the supreme court Hell comes to those who sin; it is not up to us to decide who goes to hell. Rom 12:20 "BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK In vengeance, our minds have been overtaken by evil. God wants us to love our enemies. Rom 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. There is no authority except from God. Does God really say here that all people in authority absolutely know what they are doing? Do you know that each human being is beloved by God? He is Omnipotent, that is- All Powerful. This does not mean there exists other little authorities here and there. He is the One Authority there is. This is what Paul was saying; the power that there is. If you think gods rule over you have given them your power. No one rules over us but the One God. Jesus said the ruler of the WORLD is the Devil. Pharaoh would have had power over the Israelites to keep them in Egypt. He was a governing authority who harmed the Israelites. God brought them out so that they could seek and find a land of prosperity. God does not want us to be slaves of evil authorities. All authorities are not good for us. Did Paul kill Aanaias? or did he die out of shame? God is all about compassion and salvation of us from our sin. He would not have us suffer for our sin, but would save us. Matt 12:7 -I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT A SACRIFICE, you would not have condemned the innocent. Luke 6:37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned. Rom 2:1 Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself John 8:4 Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery John 8:5 Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say? John 8:6 But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground. He straightened up, and said to them, He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her. When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court. Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you? She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more. John 8:15 YOU JUDGE ACCORDING TO THE FLESH; I am not judging anyone. John 8:16 But even if I do judge, MY JUDGMENT IS TRUE; for I AM NOT ALONE IN IT, but I and the Father who sent Me. What makes us think we know everything, when Jesus here is saying he needs the Father's help? John 5:30 "I can do NOTHING on My own initiative. As I HEAR, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My OWN will, but the WILL OF HIM WHO SENT ME. The Father would forgive everyone their sins. Jesus is not trying to teach us what the rules of the world are. We know. But the Father thinks differently and loves us. Is 55:8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways, declares the LORD. 8 Is 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts. It is the Father's will, not ours. Not the world's. Do you think Jesus believed in the death penalty? When Jesus was on the cross he told the thief that was hanging next to him -This day you shall see heaven. Jesus forgave EVERYONE. He wants us to do the same. |

Dear Julie, You wrote, "Jesus forgave EVERYONE." (sic) On what Scripture do you base this statement? How do you reconcile such a statement with Matthew 12:32? I read of universal guilt, but I do not find in the Scriptures any teaching of universal forgiveness. If all were forgiven then none would be judged. We certainly know that that is not true (Revelation 20:11-15). Furthermore, universalism is a teaching contrary to orthodoxy. In Him, Doc |

Matt 18:14 So it is NOT the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish. Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. We will be given chances to repent and turn back and change our ways all our lives. It is in Exodus, the story of God's continuing love and guidance. God will love us always and as long as we repent and turn to him, we will be led out. It is God's nature to forgive and to love. Any sin and any blasphemy shall be forgiven, if we turn from it and listen to the Holy Spirit, who leads away from our sins to God. So God can reach out to us and pull us along through HS. Check out the story of Exodus, how with every willingness to hear God, he led them further. They did sin and backslide, but this was not counted against them. DID GOD send them back to Egypt? No, He kept leading them. God had mercy and forgiveness on them (400 plus years) because God loves us. It is our decision if we feel like repenting or not. If we don't, we can't be saved. No one can drag us out of Egypt/Hell, out of our suffering. We need to be willing for the Holy Spirit to guide us, and if we hate the Holy Spirit, nothing is going to be able to save us from hell. When he says that we won't be forgiven, it does not mean out of anger or rejection. For God loves us and wants the best for us, just as a Father loves deeply his son, whether stay at home or strayed. Prodigal son. I am not making this up. We are not capable of being saved from our sins when we resist the Holy Spirit. For the Holy Spirit is God's loving FORGIVENESS sent to us. He would never hold back his forgiveness from us, Don't you see? prodigal son PLEASE keep in mind Christ's mission was to convince us of the LOVE of GOD. NOT of vengeance guilt and shame. So now read the quotes at the top again. You must hold the words "Christ loves me. Christ loves me" in your mind while reading them. Jesus is not out to condemn, but to help us. He is telling us that we can't be forgiven of our mistakes if we keep making them. And that we will keep being stuck in our mistakes until we beleive in the Holy Spirit. If I speak against the Holy Spirit, there is nothing in heaven that then can save me from myself, because I've made the decision not to accept forgiveness. Christ resides within us, but we cannot hear Him speak or follow Him unless we open our ears to the Holy Spirit, and trust in it. If we don't, that's our choice. But we must suffer the consequences- a life without leadership, a life without guidance, and eternity in our sins. But the most important point is that no one is denying salvation to you. You are denying it to yourself. For salvation is yours for the taking. Jesus forgave EVERYONE. Do you remember when he was hanging on the cross, did he say, I've never been one to practice love or forgiveness, but now I feel the love. Could he teach forgiveness so thoroughly, yet not live it? 22 Luke 23:34 But Jesus was saying, Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing. And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves. My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart. Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions. -If all were forgiven then none would be judged I love this. It is in our judgment that we are forgiven. Judgment is not damnation, it is salvation. When we bring our anxious thoughts of our heart to the altar and lay them upon the table, and ask The Holy Spirit to look at our thoughts, and we look together at them with him, he is sure to transform them into God's truth, by the light. This is our forgiveness, our salvation, and our release from hell. Guilt is a condition of the fallen state, but we can be saved. Guilt IS Hell. When God told you to open that big book called the bible, it was because he was leading you to seek your own forgiveness. All thoughts must be looked at and seperated, the wheat kept and stored in your heart, the chaff flies away to the wind. It is poetic. THAT IS THE JUDGMENT! It is now, all the time, as we bring our fear, guilt, unworthy feelings to god to look at, he helps us to seperate them. Do not fear judgment, for it is where you will see your innocence. Hi Julie, I'm having a little trouble following your entire thought process and line of reasoning:-) For instance, you say- "It is in our judgment that we are forgiven. Judgment is not damnation, it is salvation." Where does scripture state this? Do you have a book, passage, or verse in mind to support it? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
