Name the two books in the bible that do not mention the word God or Lord. Name the two people God took in the bible and have no reference to dying. (hint: not Jesus) Name as many so-called "Phantom books" of the bible that you can. In other words in the bible there are references to other books that are not in the bible. |

Esther I am told does in fact contain the name LORD, but only subliminaly, in the Hebrew, if you take every 21 st letter it spells out "yod" "hey" "vah" "hey". "I AM". Source, I think is Chuck Missler of khouse.org |

Hello ebrain, I would like to ask for clarification on your post. 1. Are you saying there are "subliminal" messages in the bible? 2. Are you saying that there are secret messages in the bible that can be deciphered by code? Jeff |

Hi Jeff, I'd like to offer on answer to this question, as one who has observed both micro and macro codes in the Bible. God's "signature" is throughout Scripture. Whether it is in the construction of the letters, words, stories, or teachings, there are many proofs within the Bible that it could not have been written by mere men, but could only have been written by God. These "codes" if you will are not there, in my opinion, to teach as such, but because God is infinitely creative, and can do this because He can. And its not just ELS signatures (I know many many people go way to far with this). There is the heptatic structure of Matthew's genealogy. Rules of Hermaneutics, usable on writings by 40 different people, over 2500 years. The first time "Love" is used: "Take thy son, thy only son, whom thou lovest". These things, and so many more, speak of the infinite creativity of our God. My favorite examble of "Bible Code" is in Gen. 5. Here are the names given in the genealogy of the ten generations from Adam to Noah, with their meanings: Adam - Man Seth - Appointed Enosh - Mortal Cainan - Sorrow Mahaleleel - The Blessed God Jared - He comes down Enoch - To Teach Methuselah - His Death Will Bring Lamech - Despairing Noah - Rest As fathers and mothers named their children during the 1600 years before the flood, did they realize they were proclaiming the Gospel? Man appointed mortal sorrow. The Blessed God comes down teaching. His death brings the despairing rest. Subliminal? Secret? Hidden truth? Or an infinitely creative God writing His Book? Just my 2 cents worth... Love in Christ, Mark |

Hi Mark, Thanks for your "2 cents worth". Your posts are always worth at least that much. Just kidding. I always appreciate your posts and your insight and wisdom. To be honest though, I really didn't get your point on this one. I think you wrote it in "code". Just kidding again. but I really didn't get where you were coming from on this one. Jeff |

Hi Jeff, I just wrote a lengthy post and lost it, and now I am out of time, but here's the short form: Try to write a short paragraph about your garden which, when typed into a block of text, forms a word search puzzle containing the names of 17 trees. This is what God did. Plus a lot of things like that. Man, in his greatest genius, could not construct the Bible. It took God. Love in Christ, Mark |

Thanks Mark, I may be wrong, you may be right. I know little or nothing about codes and such. I don't believe God did any such thing. I think God simply gave us His word in scripture. For the saved, who have the Holy Spirit, we can no from the plain language (which ever language is translated) the messages that God intended to convey. I don't believe that ther are "secret codes" hidden within blocks of texts that give us deeper understanding or any such nonsense. I'm guessing with all the silliness regarding "bible codes" that has come out over the years, much has been posted on "studybibleforum". When I have time, I will do a search and see what other's have to say on the topic. It should make for some interesting reading. Thanks again for your response. PS ebrain, if your still following along, I still would like to know your position on bible codes. I am always interested in your and Mark's feedback because I have come to appreciate and respect both of you, even when we disagree. Jeff |

9 | Questions I'm trying to answer | Joshua | mark d seyler | 168890 | ||
Hi Jeff, Just for the record, I don't think "Bible codes" ADD anything to what is written in the plain text. I don't believe they can be used to prophesy events, or that they contain some "hidden message". Things like the Gospel spelled out in the names in Genesis 5, or the story of Jesus and the Church portrayed in Abraham sending his servent to get a gentile bride for Isaac (the details of the story read the same, just change the names), or YHVH repeated in ELS thoughout certain books of the OT, only mirror what is plainly seen. The person who does not see these things misses nothing that God tells us, because its all there plain to see. To me, it like God's fingerprint on His work. We'll know for sure in the Sweet Bye 'n' Bye, when we meet on that beautiful shore! There has been a fair amount of material posted on the forum about this, mostly saying how ridiculous it all is. If you read what Kalos recently posted, and what I have posted, I think you will find that to be representitive of what is in the archives, but then again, you may find more than I have seen. But like I said, really, just two cent's worth! Love in Christ, Mark |

Hi Edwin, Thank you for sending this info to me. For me, these "codes" are one more thing to marvel at, one of many many things about how God expresses Himself to us. Truly His quintessential expression is through His precious Son Jesus. He has also expressed Himself in His creation, and in His written Word. His expression comes through in various and wonderful ways in each of these. God bless! Love in Christ, Mark |
