This is a story of redemption and creation, not just of Hebrews as a nation, but of God's people as the church. God's almighty power redeemed Israel from the fetters of slavery, and they were taught His law and His tabernacle was built. Moses was writing of man's reconciliation with God through Jesus as a mediatior (see John 5:46), and coming into a communion and a covenant with Him. |

Renovate Me: The book of Exodus is neither an allegory nor a parable. It is the true history of Israel's emancipation from slavery. Had there been no Exodus from Egypt, there would have been no nation of Israel, no land of Israel, no Law of Moses, and no birth of the Jewish Messiah in Bethlehem as prophesied. Of course, every part of the Bible has spiritual significance. However, it is a mistake when people read a passage of Scripture and jump straight to their application of it, skipping over what it SAYS and what it MEANS. We ought always to consider what the passage SAYS (observation) and what it means (interpretation) in the historical and grammatical context. Only after we have taken these first two steps is it appropriate to go on to how it applies to me (application). Grace and shalom, kalos |
