Even today, when someone "converts" to Judaism they are “proclaimed” to be the son, or daughter, of Abraham and Sarah and welcomed AS a Hebrew. The Jews accept the born into and the converted into - AS A "FULL JEW" - with NO hesitation. The reason why the converts become “children” of Abraham is because before God called Abraham TO BE the father of the Hebrews, and Sarah, the mother of the Hebrews, Abraham and Sarah were both “Gentiles”. As were ALL their forefathers. That is the reason why Jesus often mentioned things to the Jews about "their father Abraham". The premese is Abraham and Sarah WERE FIRST GENTILE and they BECAME THE FIRST Hebrews. This is the basis for how anyone of any nationality can "BECOME a Hebrew". Interestingly, the converstion is by being immerse into water three times. (Sound familiar?) Taleb |

Shalor, there are numerous Scriptures which spell out Abraham being the father of the Hebrews. How many were you looking for? As far as the premise of Abraham being "called" a Hebrew BEFORE being called of God - sorry, but I can't find any. Those verses you listed are AFTER Abram's "call to be the father of the Hebrews", if you will. Abram was FIRST called of God in Gen. 12:1 where he was intructed to leave his aging father and promised that HIS (Abram's) seed would invoke blessing upon the whole earth. Blessings, Taleb |
