Bible Question: was abraham ever a gentile? |
Bible Answer: Even today, when someone "converts" to Judaism they are “proclaimed” to be the son, or daughter, of Abraham and Sarah and welcomed AS a Hebrew. The Jews accept the born into and the converted into - AS A "FULL JEW" - with NO hesitation. The reason why the converts become “children” of Abraham is because before God called Abraham TO BE the father of the Hebrews, and Sarah, the mother of the Hebrews, Abraham and Sarah were both “Gentiles”. As were ALL their forefathers. That is the reason why Jesus often mentioned things to the Jews about "their father Abraham". The premese is Abraham and Sarah WERE FIRST GENTILE and they BECAME THE FIRST Hebrews. This is the basis for how anyone of any nationality can "BECOME a Hebrew". Interestingly, the converstion is by being immerse into water three times. (Sound familiar?) Taleb |
