1 | Responsibility in the original text | Ezra 10:4 | Bows44 | 208598
Thanks! I am homeschooling an 11th grader and don't always have the time or energy for research right now. I appreciate the help.
2 | Responsibility in the original text | Ezra 10:4 | Bows44 | 208595
What is the Greek word/number for the word translated as [responsibility] in this verse as well as in 1 Chrinicles 9:31, Numbers 4:16 and 1 Timothy 5:22. In the KJV, it is translated as 'belongeth unto thee', 'set office', 'to the office' and 'be partaker of' respectively. I am looking for all of the possible translations and original intent in the original language. Thank you.
3 | What are modern day teachings of Balaam | Rev 2:14 | Bows44 | 176719
Hi Mark, Thank you for your response. You brought out some very good points. Money can be a big idol and partaking of ungodliness to get rich is definitely a way to eat that which has been sacrificed to idols. The scriptures do say we can not serve both God and mammon. Money must be a tool we use to advance the Kingdom of God to the Glory of God, not something to spend on our own lusts. God Bless Bows44 |

4 | Exactly what things do you prove them wr | Rev 2:14 | Bows44 | 176601
Exactly what things do you prove them wrong on? What specific things are equivilent to eating things sacrificed to idols? Would you, as some say, consider tattoos, celebrating Halloween, paganistic rituals like Easter egg hunts and Christmas trees some of these things? How about the Catholic priesthood? Or is it indulging in pride and deception? Or it is just literally meat sacrificed to idols and sexual sins? This is not a trick question, but a serious inquiry that came to mind while reading Rev. 2 this morning. Looking for people's honest beliefs with scriptural backing so I can learn from those responses. |

5 | What are modern day teachings of Balaam | Rev 2:14 | Bows44 | 176591
In what ways does the modern American church follow in the way of Balaam? What teachings are equivilent to teaching someone to eat things sacrificed to idols and/or to commit acts of immorality? How can we recognize these teachings and avoid being trapped by them?
6 | True or False study question | Matt 26:28 | Bows44 | 165783
Hi Mark, I was leaning towards true, but when the word everyone's was emphasized it kind of threw me off. I was thinking. "Is this a trick question?" But as you point out the truth is that he died for all and all we have to do is believe. So I will answer true and if they say it is false, then we (them and I) will have to have a discussion on what the Bible really teaches. :-) Thanks and God bless, Bows44 |

7 | True or False study question | Matt 26:28 | Bows44 | 165780
Hi Forum Brothers and Sisters, Hope all of you had a joyous and relaxing holiday season. I am doing a Bible study and one of the questions is a bit tricky to me. I was wondering how some of you would answer it. The question is (based on Matt. 26:28) true or false: In this verse we see that Jesus shed his blood for the remission of everyone's sins. The word 'everyone's' is underlined, so does 'many' mean 'everyone'? I believe Jesus died for everyone's sins, but grammatically 'many' does not mean 'all' so now I am confused on how to answer. Would you answer this question true or false? and why? Thanks for your input, Bows44 |

8 | Does one day equal one thousand years? | 2 Pet 3:8 | Bows44 | 164423

9 | Does one day equal one thousand years? | 2 Pet 3:8 | Bows44 | 164422
Dear Doc, I have always believed like you. Sunday I heard a preacher on TV talking about the prophetic days. Then yesterday this scripture was part of the Bible study my son and I were doing, so I was explaining it to him. But as we were discussing the grammer implications of 'as' making it an analogy and mathematically speaking it came up equal. So then I was not certain anymore and wondered if anyone from the prophetic day group had additional scriptural basis for their interpretation. I consider the context in which it is written is basically...Don't worry. God is not bound by time and will not forget His promises. But after our discussion, I could see how the other interpretation could be reached as well. Therefore I was looking for more info. Also I wondered how they handled the creation story, because if one is to say that one day equals one thousand years then I would think that one would have to apply the same logic to the creation story. However, I don't know of anyone from the prophetic day interpretation camp who does not believe in a literal 6 day creation with a 1 day rest making a literal 7 day week. So it seems they have a little bit of a conflict. It would be nice to hear where they are at on this and what other scriptural basis they have for their interpretation. Seeking to know the truth, Bows44 |

10 | Does one day equal one thousand years? | 2 Pet 3:8 | Bows44 | 164397
Hi Mark, I did search, but didn't find the information I was looking for. Maybe I didn't search properly. I have been hearing this topic preached about lately, so it was on my mind. Also, there are many new members to the forum that may have something to say on this topic. Seeking to understand, Bows44 |

11 | Does one day equal one thousand years? | 2 Pet 3:8 | Bows44 | 164360
I would like to "hear" a discussion on the two interpretations of this scripture. Which do you suport and why? 1. One day equals one thousand years, therefore we are in the 6th day (prophetically speaking.) 2. This just means that God is outside of time and therefore not constrained by time. A day to God is the same as a thousand years because both are just as long to Him. Note: If you hold to number one, what do you do with the creation account? When God said a day did He really mean a thousand of our years and therefore created the heavens and earth in 6 thousand years and rested for 1 thousand years? Personally, I can see both interpretations, but which one is correct? or can both be correct? Bows44 |

12 | Who buried Moses? | Deut 34:5 | Bows44 | 161560
Hi BradK, You stated: Scripture doesn't say specifically who buried Moses. Then you quoted Deut. 34:5-8. Doesn't the following statement from this passage say God buried Moses? Don't you believe the "He" in this scripture is referring to God? "And He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor; but no man knows his burial place to this day." Bows44 |

See badness, disease, resentment. virus, n. venom. poison, catagium, germ. microorganism. See disease. Hope this helps, Bows44 |

Hi basbudy, 1 John 5:14-15 tells us... 14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. Hope this helps, Bows44 |

16 | Why no Church services on Christmas? | Bible general Archive 3 | Bows44 | 159982
Hi Pbp, I can't speak for every church, but our church and most churches I know of always hold services on Sunday even when Christmas falls on that day. The only time we didn't have service was when the hurricanes blew through last year. :-( Usually we have a special "Happy Birthday Jesus" themed service. Many other churches I know have special dramas or Cantadas with Christmas themes. Hope this helps, Bows44 |

17 | What is progeny? | Bible general Archive 3 | Bows44 | 159980
Hi Mark, Where in this discussion do you think Jude 1:6 and 2 Peter 2:4 falls? Are the fallen angels currently bound or roaming the earth with Satan causing trouble or restricted to the second heaven blocking answers to prayers? (Dan. 10:13) Who is the Prince of Persia referred to in Dan.? A fallen Angel? Are all fallen angels bound or only ones that sinned through taking on human form and having sexual relations with humans? If bound, how could they possess anyone or rule over areas? What are unclean spirits if not fallen angels? I am not stating a personal belief in these questions. Just asking some questions for clarity and understanding. Love in Christ, Bows44 |

18 | Faith | James 1:2 | Bows44 | 159958
Hi NightJay, One must have faith in God, not one's own faith. Faith is trust, belief, a knowing that you know. For example, you need finances to pay your rent. You don't know how you are going to get it, but you know the Bible says God will take care of you and knows what your needs are, so you have faith in God that he will take care of you. That peace down in your spirit that tells you everything will work out o.k. proves you have faith. If you have fear, you don't have faith because you really aren't trusting God to take of you. This principle applies to everything in life. You have peace, are resting in the promises of God...you have faith. You are worried, afraid, can't sleep, etc....you do not have faith. As for moving a mountain or anything else...it doesn't always happen how we envision, so sometimes we don't recognize that it has happened. One person I know needed to have a part of a mountain moved so they could build a building in a certain place. They starting praying this promise about moving mountains and after a few months a road was putin, in that area and the section of mountain was removed. I would say that was an answer to this prayer/promise. The key is to keep your peace and let God lead you and answer your prayers and meet your needs his way. I recommend doing a word study on faith, so you can see how others in the Bible exercised faith and received from God. Then you can learn from those examples. Also, speak to fellow Christians who have faith for encouragement and further insight in how to walk in faith. Hope this helps, Bows44 |

19 | Scriptural Support? | Rev 12:9 | Bows44 | 159811
Dear Forwwjd, Welcome to the forum. You are right. We did get a little off base. For my part, I guess I clouded the Biblical point with personal issues. I repent to all my forum brothers and sisters. The point I was trying to make was... We should be speaking the truth in love and be careful to post only that which we know to be truth (absolute fact) so as not to corrupt our witness of the precious Gospel truths which are so much more important than who did or did not start a cult. Since there is no clear truth on this matter of Mr. Russell that I can find, it should no longer be discussed on this forum. Thank you for reminding us to stay on track. Yours in Christ, Bows44 |

20 | gift of healing same as prayer of faith | 1 Cor 12:9 | Bows44 | 159809
Greetings Makarios, I am an artist, but I have not painted any pictures in years. That doesn't mean I am no longer an artist. It just means I haven't used my talent in a few years. I admit the church as a whole is not showing forth the same healing powers that the Bible talks about, but that doesn't mean we don't have the powers. It just means most are not using them. Scripture does not support the discontinuation of healing. What we need to ask ourselves is why aren't we personally laying hands on the sick and seeing them recover, raising the dead, etc. Then seek to grow in those areas until we all come to the unity of faith and grow up into Jesus. If we are not yet perfected, that is not because God has stopped working on or in or through us. It just means we have more growing to do. You don't tell a baby that running is not for them because they have only learned to crawl. You give them time to learn and you encourage and them along the way. Let's give every Christian encouragement and help in growing up into Jesus and being and doing all that God desires for each of us to do. Be blessed and encouraged in your growing, Bows44 |
