141 | Did God mention his/her gender in bible? | John 8:54 | Bows44 | 149196
Read Mark 12:20-27, then the creation story. And John 4:24. I think you will find that God is neither male or female in the human sense. He is a Spirit and has both female and male attributes. It is a grammar thing to use he. When He is protecting, providing, correcting He is acting as a father, so these are considered to be male attributes. When he is nurturing, teaching, encouraging these are things mothers are known for and therefore these can be considered to be female attributes. This doesn't mean that fathers can't or don't teach. Or that mothers can't or don't correct her children. Studying languages with more obvious masculine and feminine words than English tend to make this concept easier to understand. However, we are created in the image of God. Male and female created he them. Both males and females are in the image of God. When we get to heaven we also will no longer be male or female in the human sense of the word. Kind of a hard concept to grasp, but clearly laid out in scripture. This is a complex concept, not easily explained in this forum, but hopefully this helps some. :-)
142 | help | Luke 11:2 | Bows44 | 149190
Prayer is talking to God and also listening to Him speak to you. It is communication. What we have been learning in our Sunday School class is to deepen our communication with our Lord by meditation on scripture. Take one scripture and read it, speak it, write it, sing it, pray it, then listen to what God says back and write down what you hear. We have been meditating on the Songs of Solomon the past few weeks. It has been absolutely incredible what God has been speaking to me and the others in class. Try it and see what happens! I think you will see your prayer time become more exciting. :-)
143 | Who has been silenced? | Rev 8:1 | Bows44 | 149187
I have been taught that this is when Jesus according to Matt 15:31, Mark 8:38 and Luke 9:26 returns with all the holy angels. Everyone is with Him, so no one is in Heaven for that time, and that is why there is silence in Heaven. You will note that after this the judgements begin. This could be referring to the rapture of the church just before God's wrath is poured out on the earth since Jesus returns in a cloud. See Luke 21:27 Cloud represents angels or group. i.e. cloud of witnesses in Heb 12:1 But it could also mean that everyone is just being quiet and observing what the angels are doing with the incense and prayers because this is such an awesome moment in that it begins the judgements. Hope this helps.
