201 | What happened w/Judas? | Gen 1:1 | Norrie | 17260
I was wondering if it had something to do w/bowels loosing, I read a lot of detective stories. I'm in a contraversy w/somebody who says that Judas repented, that the hanging was a word meant for deep, choking sorrow and that he was murdered to coverup the priests involvement. I don't know how she comes up w/this stuff, but she'll quote scriptures, it's wild. |

203 | How many children did Adam and Eve have? | Gen 1:1 | Norrie | 28660
3And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth. 4After he begot Seth, the days of Adam were eight hundred years; and he had sons and daughters. Seems like that semicolon could mean he had sons and daughters before and after Seth too. Like I could say Daddy was 40 when he begat John and John is my younger brother. That statement wouldn't say anything about the kids before him, could be the same here because back to the original question-where did Cain get his wife. :) |

207 | question to smoke pot or not | Gen 1:12 | Norrie | 54859
I smoked pot for 30 yrs, I think I can qualify to judge pot smoking. Some pot smokers led me to the Lord too. Unfortunately, these same pot smokers loved pot so much, they eventually lost their home from spending all their money on pot, they had 2 kids too. Stange a non-addictive substance would make them do that, huh? My husband is a pot smoker. I remember when my daughter was born, he took the 50 dollars that someone gave us to start her saving acct and bought pot w/it. He has done way too many things in persuit of pot to mention including running up CC bills on cash advances, trading things that were irreplaceable for pot. When he doesn't have it, he is mean, nasty, irritable. Now he has a steady supply and I actually paid him off one time to get out of smoking it w/him any more because his dream was to have a wife who loved to smoke pot w/him-he needed money to work on his car so I said I'll give you the money if I can quit smoking pot w/you-sad, huh? But it's not addictive... Then his buddy just got out of prison for pot. He was on work release, had great job as auto mechanic at a dealership and failed drug test and had to go back to do rest of time-couldn't NOT smoke it and now he's out, goes to probation officer once a month, smokes right after the visit so he can pass test later. This man is in his 40s. No, it's not addictive! I remember wanting some so bad before but wasn't any available so I'd get drunk and smoke cigarettes as substitute. I'd even buy some roll your own smokes for substitutes. No, it's not addicting! It may not give you DTs, it's not physical but mental, but you still crave it, enough to do all kinds of things you shouldn't as in examples shown above. I'm sure there are many other Xpot smokers who can say similar things. |

209 | question to smoke pot or not | Gen 1:12 | Norrie | 54863
I guess that depends on whether you get drunk or not, excess is the question there.
210 | question to smoke pot or not | Gen 1:12 | Norrie | 54866
How can you smoke pot and not get stoned? What would be the purpose of that? Even the cancer patients that can use it legally must get stoned. I agree that casual pot smoking is better than getting drunk tho, far more people wreck on alcohol than pot but...:)
211 | question to smoke pot or not | Gen 1:12 | Norrie | 54869
Thank God you were delivered!!! I have a question. You said you were a crack addict-did you get delivered because of turning your life over to Jesus? Is it possible to be delivered otherwise? I have a brother who is a crack addict. He seems to be doing OK now but no telling when the desire will hit again and he go down that street again, it has happened before and will probably happen again. He had been beat up several times, shot, had his leg broken, all from crack dealers-they don't play if you don't pay, you don't want credit w/them. |

Thank you. I know salvation would be first and greatest step for my brother. He sure is stubborn tho. How long ago were you delivered from crack? Was it recent? I know that I was saved but still smoked pot and drank, I didn't have any instant deliverance from anything except maybe being blasphemous, I was bad about cussing. Thank God I'm not like I was back then anyway! I still have a long ways to go but I'm so much better off than what I was! I sure never want to go back. I'm thinking that song "God is good, all the time!!!"

215 | was Gods intention to eat forbid. fruit | Gen 2:9 | Norrie | 17681
I have a friend who believes there was not really an actual fruit or a talking snake, that this story is just figurative, the tree of life represents Jesus and tree of the knowledge of good and evil represents Satan. I believe Genesis is a straightforward acct of what happened. She also believes that the sin was actually Eve having sex w/Satan and Cain is their son, not Adam's, but Cain and Able were twins by different fathers, she spouts off all these scriptures to prove her point. I think she's way off. What do you think?
216 | was Gods intention to eat forbid. fruit | Gen 2:9 | Norrie | 17693
Accd to her, she has been studying the Bible for 18 yrs now, she makes her own mind up, but she has been studying under that Murray guy, lately she's been going online too w/some Kingschapel. She was raised Cath, then had a stint w/JW, now she's doing this independent study. She doesn't trust churches, says they are teaching wrong things. I guess they are if she believes what she believes is right. :) I told her I can't see how anybody could come to those conclusions w/o someone planting it in your mind first, then maybe you researching and believing it. She takes her Bible study seriously and will fight you on her beliefs, tries to shove them on everyone who will listen. We're on an egroup and there are nonchristians and maybe some seekers there, I don't want her to run anybody off w/her strange ideas so I say something, then it become the battle of the scripture verses. I've never done that deep of study to really go after her that deep, but I can read! I know there are figurative books in the Bible but I don't think Genesis is one, but try telling her that. I've been knowing her online for several years, we've been on several forums together and are email buddies but we disagree on many things Biblically. We've been argueing over Cain for years now, but she's even more impassioned. Usually I just let it drop when it's just us, some people you can't talk to, but when there are impressionable people around, I feel it's my duty to say something. I just wish I was more knowledgeable. |

Can you be saved and still believe that? She definately believes in Jesus as her Lord and Savior and refers to God as Father, she just has these wacko ideas about what the Bible says, far out interpretation. She sure professes being saved. At least she has the plan of salvation right, she just needs to quit interpretating the Bible or listening to those far out teachers. I listened to Copeland all those years and believed everything he said, of course he wasn't that far out...not like Murray.

Have you ever told your kids not to do something but you knew they'd do it anyway? I have. Typing in all caps makes it hard to read, some people consider it shouting, I just have a hard time reading it. :) |

Thanks, that's why I come here to ask questions, want to make sure I get a right perspective. :) We've called a truce on the Bible studies/arguments for now too. I did copy that post someone here made w/the 4 points on Bible interpretation and decided he was right. Hopefully she will become more openminded. I have received so many articles lately about aspostasy in the church and one world religion, it's mindboggling. All I can say is be ready! :) |
