1 | if you are saved are you always saved? | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 162936 | ||
It is clear from Scripture that the Lord does not save everyone, but in fact only a few (Matt 7:14). In John 6:65, it is written "no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father". Are you saying in fact that God grants salvation to persons that He knows in advance will loose it? That He is not able to do what He says He is able to do at Jude v 24? |

Thanks for your reply. Obviously well thought out. Reading the previous posts, it does appear that the way “salvation” is used to include much more than should be included in one word. It could be that there is no one word to encompass such terms and phases as justification, redemption, born again, quicken, eternal life, and etc. That is we have to treat our relationship with God, and out standing in Christ with more than just one word. For when it is said once saved always saved, what all is be considered by the word saved. Do they mean born again, for sure we cannot be unborn physically therefore it being a big just to say that we can be unborn spiritually. Just a thought; below are some observation of the verse that you referenced. Rom 3:19 is talking of justification for sure not sure that it is speaking of salvation. GAL 2:16 is taking of justification for sure also again not sure about salvation. Also is speaks of the faithfulness of Jesus Christ not our faith. 2Cor. 5:18 seems to be talking about reconciliation not salvation. Rom 5:11 again reconciliation or atonement but not salvation. Col 1:20 reconcile or reconciliation again though is blood, not sure that this is taking about salvation Gal 4:5 again redemption; salvation all depends on how large a net you allow the one word to encompass. Col 2:13, 14 being born again, or being made alive but salvation ? Just something to think about. |

Dear AGM, There are, indeed, other words that can and are used to describe the various aspects of salvation. We've had pretty extensive discussions on the forum regarding the "ordo salutis." (cf post #151193) In Him, Doc |
