1 | Stretching oneself on a person heals? | Bible general Archive 3 | love_peace_joy | 186181 | ||
I Kings 17:21 reads, "And he stretched himself upon the child three times..." 2 Kings 4:34 reads, "And he went up and lay upon the child and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands, and he stretched himself upon the child..." My question is this: Was this a God-mandated practice that Elijah and Elisha performed, that of "stretching" oneself upon a sick person to heal them? Is this practice in use today by the Christian church? |

God's day to you, love_peace_joy, It is dangerous to cite passages like this and claim it will be true for you ... or anyone else today. While it could be used today, it is not geanerally. As pointed out Jesus healed in many ways ... but he didn't heal everyone. Look at John 5. I preseume by the text there were others at the Pool, waiting for it to be stirred, else the man would have been first. Searcher |

Thank you for your reply, Searcher. I do not understand your charge that "It is dangerous to cite passages like this and claim it will be true for you ... or anyone else today. While it could be used today, it is not geanerally." I did not claim this passage to be true for me or anyone. I apologize if that was how it was projected to you. Regarding how Jesus healed, I agree that He did not heal everyone. God bless you, love_peace_joy |

What I meant by ......... "It is dangerous to cite passages like this and claim it will be true for you ... or anyone else today. While it could be used today, it is not geanerally." ... is that people have claimed (I am not saying you do) that a verse applies to them. Not all verses are for people today. Searcher |
