Hi Edwin, As I use the terms "regeneration" and "re-birth", I am speaking of exactly the same thing by both. This is that moment in time that my sin is put away from me, and God restores that which was lost, spiritual life. I am now in fellowship with my Heavenly Father. I am now innocent. I have been delivered from my body of sin. I have been delivered from the curse of the Law. It is this deliverance that we speak of when we say "salvation." While I may not yet see the final deliverance from this body of sin, and from the curse, this deliverance has been effected. I am saved. Regeneration, Biblically, is that specific act which God does in us that spiritually reverses the curse of sin, the fall of man. To any who believe Once Saved Always Saved, as I do, this act is never un-done. The moment of regeneration is the moment of salvation. So then if regeneration happens before we understand the gospel, then of necessity, we are saved apart from an understanding of the gospel. I do not believe that is true. That is not what the Bible teaches in my estimation. If regeneration happens before repentance, then we are saved before repentance, and God saves unrepentant sinners. I do not believe that is true, or what the Bible teaches, again, in my estimation. It seems that you may agree with much or all of this, I'm not certain. I want to be clear in what I believe. You wrote something rather intriguing: "firstly the Lord plants His seed (not the Holy Spirit)" Are you then saying that regeneration comes but without baptism in the Holy Spirit? Love in Christ, Mark |

Hi again Mark. and thank you for your input. You said. "As I use the terms "regeneration" and "re-birth", I am speaking of exactly the same thing by both. It is this deliverance that we speak of when we say "salvation." Salvation is an ongoing process that includes "regeneration", there is an order and sequence of events, for example, you are saved, you are being saved, you will be saved, sanctification is also included, whereas, "conversion", on the other hand, is a once and for all never to be repeated moment it time, You have done what Romans 10:9, tells you to do, You know that you are saved, that all your sins have been forgiven, that you have become a Christian, you now have a new life. Regeneration is what The Lord has done to you in advance, in order that you might be able to understand "Spiritual things", and therefore be able to do what Rom 10:9. tells you to do.. You go on to say. "I'm not certain. I want to be clear in what I believe. You wrote something rather intriguing: "firstly the Lord plants His seed (not the Holy Spirit)". The reason is that the Holy Spirit dose not take up residence within you, until you do what is required at,, Eph 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, You do not receive the Holy Spirit, until you believe, and you cannot believe if God has not first planted His seed in you, therefore the Holy Spirit cannot possibly be the seed, I have already dealt with this problem to some extent when you asked a question about,, Eph 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, and I explained at the time just how it was possible for you to be "in Him". long before you were born. Every blessing brother. Edwin. |

Hello Edwin! Greetings! I can see your point, and it is well taken and I know what you mean. but there is sometimes a problem with the terms that we as Christians use. Conversion for example can be one of them. here are just three definitions given in the dictionary. 1. the act or process of converting; state of being converted. 2. change in character, form, or function. 3. spiritual change from sinfulness to righteousness. Some use this term to mean the same thing as being born again, and this is understandable. And being born again, is certainly a one tine shot, if you please. But lets look at this please, if you will. And, I'm not debating your your inference, I'm just trying to come to an understanding of terms. Although we know that we are born once in the Spirt, there is as we know an ongoing process of sanctification, and looking at the definition of conversion, this can certainly be construed as the same as sanctification, i,e. the ongoing process i.e. we are being transformed/converted/sanctified. to the image of Christ. I hope this can bring us to a unification of terms. Again, I am not disagreeing with inference, just definitions. thank you brother. God bless. John |
