Hi AIT, I like your example of the grave stone. I told my wife that when I die, she doesn’t even have to bother putting me in the ground, just through me in the back yard, and I will raise enough stink that somebody will bury me. She didn’t think it was funny either! There is an interesting point on your post that I noticed. You mentioned the following and it sure seems like the thing we would all want God to say about us “"With her, I am well pleased." Why would God want to say that about you personally speaking? I have kind of had thoughts along those same lines. I wanted to be the best person I could be and trust God and have Him look favorably on me. Then one day someone showed me the following, in the Bible that I would like to share with you; boy, did this open my eyes! The one that showed me this said that this is how God looks at me, and everyone else. Romans 3:10 As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one; Romans 3:12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one." I told him well I believe in God and I’m doing the best I can do and he continued to show me these verses. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, The question is then how can I be pleasing in God’s sight since I am imperfect? The answer is that I have to get God’s eyes of me and on to something perfect instead of me; i.e. something in my place. Now how do I do that? God says that He will place me in Jesus Christ His Son positionally, if I will completely trust in the work that God did for me on the cross in the person of His Son Jesus. In essence Jesus gets old filthy me and God ascribes to me His perfect righteousness: what a deal!! But I have to have confidence or total undivided faith in Gods Son Jesus, in order for all of this to happen! Paul even mentions this in Romans about his countrymen and I fit the same pattern, how they believe in God and even with zeal but their believing in God wasn’t God’s plan: Jesus is God’s only plan! Romans 10:1-4 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. [2] For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. [3] For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. [4] For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. It’s kind of strange when we speak about believing in God and trusting in Him. God the Father wants us to use Jesus as the way to Him and eternal life. Acts 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. When I started reading the Bible I was close and on the right track all right but it wasn’t until I finally come to the conclusion of the following that I knew God was right about the life hereafter. That if God were to ask me; Why should I let you come into My Kingdom, I would have say, while face down on my knees? Because of my precious Saviour Jesus, He paid my price and opened the way for me and I completely trust in what he did for me on the cross, that what he did was sufficient for me to get into heaven. I could say, Father if you weren’t satisfied with what Jesus did for me you wouldn’t have raised Him from the dead but you did and I trust in Him and believe what you promised me and I have Jesus as my own. 1 John 5:10-13 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. [11] And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. [12] He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. [13] These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. And now AIT, you know the rest of my story, CDBJ |

Hi CDBJ, here's the rest. 5. re: “The answer is that I have to get God’s eyes off me and on to something perfect instead of me; i.e. something in my place. Now how do I do that?” The last thing God wants to do is keep His eyes off you! He made you! He loves you! He’s there for you! God’s goal is not for the impossible: for us to be perfect, He knows we are not. Jesus said, 12:30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Mark 12:30 (New International Version) The only thing we have to offer God that is perfect is our LOVE, not ourselves. Because LOVE comes from our Father Almighty, it in and of itself is perfect. Also, “God’s eyes off me” should be converted to “my eyes off me”. It is the love of God offered to others that shows our true Christian faith. Love directed in any way toward ourselves defeats the purpose. 6: re: Romans 10:1-4 The Old Testament was based on accomplishing the law. Jesus came to set us free from the law. This is the separation of our WHO from our DO. It is not what we do that is of importance, it’s the heart that we possess WHILE we do that God is concerned with. (True Story: I share this not to glorify myself but to help outline a process that each of us goes through when we may or may not want to be INCONVENIENCED.) Do I help the elderly lady at the grocery store, who is standing under the roof waiting for the rain to stop, out of duty or out of love? If I did it out of duty, I may do it but be a bit irritated that my frozen goods are melting, or that I am getting more wet than I want to, or that my family is expecting me home, or I can come up with excuses not to help her by thinking, “It’ll stop raining soon” or “Someone else will help her” or “She doesn’t need any help”. Or I can do it out of love and know in my heart that it is God that is pulling at my heart to help this wonderful lady with the bright and cheerful eyes that is looking so scared at the prospects of going out in the rain (and for the record, it was totally pouring out). After offering a multitude of times to help her, and her very gently and humbly refusing my assistance, I finally got her to agree to me pulling my van up, loading her groceries into my van and driving her to her car. She confided in me that this was the first time in 9 months that she was driving alone. She was in an accident 9 months earlier and was afraid to drive until now. She so gently and courageously asked me if I could show her how to work the wipers. It was so long since she had driven that she didn’t know how to get them to work. Now this is what I live for, being a servant for God. Do you think it was an accident that I walked out and noticed this woman? I don’t believe in coincidences. I only had a moment to act in obedience to God’s direction: to help. I don’t share this story with pride. It is the grace of God that my heart is open to helping people. And it is what I pray for each day: “Please Lord, help me know your will for my life. Help me know for certainty what You want from me and specifically where you want me involved.” I have to say, CDBJ, I may not always be right in which things I think God is directing me. However, as long as I do it in LOVE, it will always be right in the eyes of God. 7. re: Acts 4:12 and John 14:6 I know that I am saved through Jesus Christ. But when I am asked to defend this scripture I am left with some questions. If we are ONLY saved through Jesus Christ, what about the people that don’t know about Him? What about the children? What about the people that have pure hearts and true love but are of a different faith? Maybe you have some insights in this. My husband is struggling to “believe” and this is one of his struggles. I don’t have any strong answers and strive to help him on his journey. 8. Your response to God: It’s precious and right on. Our humility and acceptance of His grace is such an important part of glorifying Him. I doubt that this sums up the rest of your story, however, it’s an awesome beginning at getting to know you. This is such a total pleasure to share this time with you. I hope you have a great weekend and that any part of my response assists you in answering some of your very insightful questions. I pray that the Lord gives you favor and blesses you and your family. :) Angel in Training |

Hi AIT, I have a house full of relatives, here form Va. and I can’t spend too much time on the computer. That was a nice experience that you had at the grocery store with the elderly lady. Were you able to share the love of God with here and did she respond with any kind of a decision towards Christ? I will post to you later when I have more time. 1 Cor. 9:22 (B) I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. Have a great day, CDBJ |
