1 | Was "James" used prior to KJV ? | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 70852 | ||
Justme I understand what your saying about the Textus Receptus it was completed after the KJV rather than the other way around. Instead of the KJV being based on it, the TR had the potential of being based on the KJV. Some claim this is what happened and the TR was built from the KJV, however there are others that say no. I love to study the translation process of the Bible. I'm also fascinated by those that would have us believe Jesus spoke only King James English. EdB |

EdB :-( Now are you tring to tell me that Paul didn't speak Elizabethian English as well? Now you have crossed over the Big no, no, line! If KJV was good enough for Paul then it is good enough for me!!!! I think in reality in the midwest, here in central Missoui, the KJV out sell all other translations, this is the Bible Belt and we have a great number of Almish and Menonite. Some drive cars but most have horse drawn buggies. This can be a real test of their faith venturing out on the highway. As a drive I am always or the alert for the orange triangles. Everyear there collisions and serious injury, and the horse seldom lives. These simple living folks have become friends and we have been challenged to make our life less hectic and simpler. We buy a lot of our grocerys and other better hosehold itend, and all our hay this way. We have become friends with a man and wife who have 60 grandchildren! Their lifestyle is amazing. When a wedding comes it takes all day! there are generally 250 people who eat, sing, pray and celebrate. This goes on until 11 PM. and the Brides family pays for everything! Two meals for 250 people, wow! I have never been with such kinder more sincere, loving people. They accept outsiders very cautiously, and it takes time to build friendships. This has been well worth our effort and love to them. Their children do not go to school beyond the 8th grade. They earn their living with their hands, respect the soil, and do not accept any government Social Security, food stamps or welfare. They pay their taxes and keep to thenselves. Their lives are hard, and they depend on hard work and the Lord. Now I wonder how our government could improve on that? We respect their right to live unto the Lord as they see best. We are viewed as friends, but I am sure they would generally say we are too worldly. Our friends have accepted our differences as we have theirs. So I say we are blessed to live where we do. Justme |

Justme I'm from Mennonite stock. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania. Not far from a place called the big valley where Amish had beautiful farms on either side of the road for miles and miles. Many of their dairy barns were cleaner than a few houses I see these days. We would go for rides on Sunday afternoon and we would see 50 or more of these buggies traveling the roads. My mouth still waters for Amish smoked ham and apple dumplings. In the summer I would visit my Mennonite relatives and in turn their Amish friends and relatives. I remember some really good eating!!! Later lived in Cleveland Ohio there is place called Mesopotamia in north eastern Ohio which is another Amish area. They would send their meat and produce into Cleveland and it sold for a premium. I remember ordering and picking up an Amish hams every Christmas. Now that I’m in Florida there is another Amish enclave down toward Sarasota where I go when I get hungry for some good old Amish cooking. We have a Christian campground near here that is ran by the Mennonite’s. I love it when retreats are scheduled in there I know we will be treated the best. EdB |

EdB (:-) Then you know why we love it here so much. I was raised is fast pace California. My wife and me and our family lived in Phoenix gor about 8 years before moving to Missouri. So we love the four seasons, the lakes, just about everything in Missouri. I often say if our lakes were in California there would not be a lake front to buy in the state. Cost of living is low, and it's like stepping back in time fourty years. Most of the Amish and Mennonite meat comes from PA. And as Mr. Cook says "ooh it's soo good." So is our Lord who provides for us with such mercy and grace. justme |

Justme I envy you. I'm stuck in Florida. Grandmother and grandchildren will not be parted. I love the 4 seasons and I so miss snow here in Florida. You can take the boy out of the north but you can't take the north out of the boy. though after all these years 24 I would probably freeze up north now. EdB |
