1 | Is the church is infallible? | 1 Tim 3:15 | Mommapbs | 136723 | ||
Greetings Al - Where do you see the keys to the kingdom of heaven as the Key of David - THE key of authority? Jesus alone holds that Key. imo, I don't see Him sharing that with Peter, the pope or anyone else. I would not entrust anyone with the "key" to my house except the Lord. 2 Tim 1:12 Rev 3:7 He who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens, says this: Who HAS the key of David; Who is the "HE" in this verse? - it is NOT Peter; it is NOT the pope; it is NOT the RC Church - it is Jesus. How does your position "the church is the truth" compare to what Jesus declared about Himself in John 14:6 (I am the truth) and about God's Word in John 17:17 (Your Word is truth - See also John 1:1)? Are you claiming that the Roman Catholic Church is Divine? Jesus warns us: 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or 'There He is,' do not believe him." Mt 24:23 Re: Mt 16:18. The Roman Catholic Church and the catholic church are two different entities. The "catholic" church of Mt 16:18 is the church universal, the body of Christ; His witnesses. The other is an organization of men based in Rome. We are redeemed of the Lord, but no man is infallible. Only God is infallible; the church, being made up of men and women with sin natures is not infallible. Peter was not infallible, he denied the Lord. He is not the "rock" upon which Christ's Church is built. The ROCK upon which Christ build's His church is the testimony of who He is as revealed by the Holy Spirit to Peter,(v 16). The church builds on the rock - JESUS - by obedience to Christ, not by obedience to any man. Luke 6:46-49. Where does God's Word cite that the Holy Spirit is only given to the Roman Catholic Church? The Holy Spirit is given to all those who believe in Jesus, not just the Roman Catholic Church.(John 7:39). Membership in the body of Christ is a work of God 1 Cor 12:13. Please refrain from witholding the cup from those who are not registered with Rome! Peace to you, mommapbs |

YES Peter denied our Lord 3 times but Jesus did not hold this against him, Peter is still a man (not perfect) only God is perfect. You accepted Solomon words to be inspired words of God yet King Solomon is a known sinner with over 800 wives or concubines? FROM THE BEGINNING GOD HAS BEEN SHEPHERDING HIS CHILDREN...NOAH...ABRAHAM.....MOSES........POPE PETER........NOW POPE JOHN PAUL II Jesus also asked our First Pope Peter these questions “DO YOU LOVE ME PETER?” 3 times ”FEED MY LAMB” ”TEND MY SHEEP” read ..John 21:15, 16 and 17 Who feed the sheep? “DO YOU LOVE ME PETER?” FEED MY LAMB TEND MY SHEEP Who feed the sheep? THE SHEPHERD - FATHER - PAPA – we now call POPE Primacy of Peter (Our First Pope) REMEMBER THESE VERSES …Mt. 16:18-19, Is. 22:22, Lk. 22:32, Jn. 21:17, Mk. 16:17, Lk. 24:34, Acts 1:13-26, Acts 2:14, Acts 3:6-7, Acts 5:1-11, Acts 8:21, Acts 10:44-46, Acts 15:7, Acts15:19, Gal 1:18, Gal 2:11-14, Mt 10:1-4; Mk 3:16-19; Lk 6:14-16; Acts 1:13 - Peter name always heads list of Apostles…. Lk 9:32; Mk 16:7 - "Peter and his companions" …..Mt 18:21; Mk 8:29; Lk 8:45, 12:41; Jn 6:69 spoke for Apostles …. Peters name occurs 195, more times than the other Apostles put together ABOUT HOLINESS OF THE CHURCH HIS CHURCH IS HOLY (Eph. 5:25–27, Rev. 19:7–8) By his grace Jesus makes the Church holy, just as he is holy. This doesnt mean that each member is always holy. Jesus said there would be both good and bad members in the Church (John 6:70), and not all the members would go to heaven (Matt. 7:21–23). But the Church itself is holy because it is the source of holiness and is the guardian of the special means of grace Jesus established, the sacraments (cf. Eph. 5:26). It's good that people expect too much from our priests (to be holy, pure and sinless) they put him on a pedestal. Most people put to much FAITH on their priest, pastors, and ministers and when they committed an scandalous sin they lost thier faith in their church, since their faith is based on their expectations and not soley on Jesus. This is the main reason that non Catholic christians can church HOP or go church (s) hopping anytime they feel that their church does not serve their self vested interest. Worse is they aslo believed as long they have the word (The Bible) they can start their own churches any time they feel like it. Although popular with many "Bible Christian" churches, the "Bible alone" theory simply does not Work in practice. Historical experience disproves it. Each year we see additional splintering among "Bible-believing" religions. Today there are over 33,000 competing denominations, each insisting its interpretation of the Bible is the correct one. The resulting divisions have caused untold confusion among millions of sincere but misled Christians. Just open up the Yellow Pages of your telephone book and see how many different denominations are listed, each claiming to go by the "Bible alone," but no two of them agreeing on exactly what the Bible means. We know this for sure: The Holy Spirit cannot be the author of this confusion (1 Cor. 14:33). God cannot lead people to contradictory beliefs because his truth is one. The conclusion? The "Bible alone" theory must be false. |

junmeskie, Allow me to comment on one aspect of your argument. You write "Just open up the Yellow Pages of your telephone book and see how many different denominations are listed, each claiming to go by the "Bible alone," but no two of them agreeing on exactly what the Bible means." While there are indeed many different denominations, I would venture to guess that the majority of them agree on the essential doctrines of the faith. That would also include the Catholic Church. That is, the doctrines that are clearly taught in scripture, are by and large agreed on. Those of secondary importance vary between church denomination, etc. As I see it, it becomes more a matter of application. As a matter of record and personal experience, I've met (and know) several people who've left the "Catholic Church" because it wasn't meeting their needs! You can't tell me that Catholics don't "church hop" anymore that Protestants:-) As you posit, "The "Bible alone" theory must be false", what is your proposed solution? With all due respect, you can't tell me it's only "happenin'" at the Catholic Church! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

you wrote: "the majority of them agree on the essential doctrines of the faith." My answer: To be Catholic is to be fully Christianized. We must not take compromises on what Jesus teaches and commanded us to believed Fundamental or Basic faith is not what Jesus intend us to believed. Indeed Catholics who left the church are mostly: 1 - IGNORANT to what the church really teaches 2 - BAD EXPERIENCES with Priests or members of the church and sadly the very strict rules of the church regarding morality issues like: gay, abortion, divorce cannot re-marry etc. 3 - FEELINGS they feel that to be true church of Jesus it has to be "A Feel Good Church" as if Jesus came down to earth to have a PARTY. They are looking for a church that will serve them and not to serve Jesus it’s more like they chose to be the center to be catered to. 4 - THE BLASPHEMOUS and MYTH: "Of not getting feed at The Catholic Church" http://www.geocities.com/junmescallado/jesus_feeding_scale.html SEE ……. JESUS FEEDING CHART BUT SINCE THE CATHOLIC IS NOT A DENOMINATION Catholics leave the church to join other Protesters (against) unlike Protesters who can easily church hop to over 33,000 denominations with that multitude of churches to chose from you can't go wrong. Catholics either they leave the church or get excommunicated, they don't go to another parish to church hop. WHO IS THE CENTER OF YOUR WORSHIP? JESUS…. OR….. YOUR PREACHER? http://www.geocities.com/junmeskie/Worship.html JUST LOOK AT THE 2 PICTURES AND COMPARE EYES ON THE PREACHER....NOT ON JESUS PEACE and LOVE Al Mescallado |

Al, You are entitled to your opinion and I'll respect that! Other than that, what exactly is your point? What is it that you're trying to say and why do you bring this up? This is a Study bible Forum with certain user guidelines. Both Catholics and Protestants alike are to follow them:-) I'm not here to bash Catholics and I would expect the same courtesy from you in regard to my beliefs. You display either profound ignorance or arrogance, my friend. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
