the letter kills but the Spirit gives life.may i ask how does the Lord speak to you He uses the Word for me and if One verse stands out more than others i Know that it is the lord Speaking to me.so i am not worried about what context or what comentary i just know that it is what i have been asking my Father in Heaven and He has answered me.may i say how can a woman encompass a man?, it is because the man has not been the man God wanted him to be so God used a woman us men must rise up and be accountable to God our Father.if that means learning from a woman then so be it.YIC

If one verse stands out more than others does it mean something spiritual, or might it indicate that it is what we were looking for? We ought to not be lazy lest we settle for what we thought we were looking for and land on it! If I am reasonably rather than unreasonably challenged on the textual accuracy of what I have concluded I don't take that as an attack of my faith, and neither should you --unless it was written as an attack. It might be worth trying to merely take in rheems and of God's Word when we are looking for something, it is better and safer spiritually than looking for a shortcut. Isn't that more pleasing to God than to merely hope to KNOW the answer now to something. Trust Him to show you over time, don't jump to conclusions. Instead ask God for what books of the Bible to read than requesting the verbally impossible, answer with one text. |

i will give you two examples in Mathew 2:15 in the old texts it wasnt talking about Jesus, hosea 11:1.and Math 2:18 to jerimiah 31:15 read that in context,it is not talking of the time when herod killed all the infants.yet the Lord was. if you do a study on prophesy in the old testement about Jesus in the four gospels. Some seem far fetched as in context. there fore if a verse stands out i will LISTEN to JESUS and get confirmation.YIC

I must have misunderstood your last posting... so help me clarify, because I read there that you think it is more confusing to read something in its context, than to merely lift it. This gives you the idea that God spoke directly to you? What if someone else sees the opposite thing from what you did? But an even larger question is, under what terms are you listening to God if you don't do the work of understanding what the author intended his readers to understand from it? We all do make interpretive decisions when we read something -- or else it isn't an information/revelation gathering event. So you must assign a context (this means, a meaning) to it if you don't go to the work to get at what the author intended to mean to his immediate audience. By the way would you be interested in punctuating (commas, etc.) and using capitals? It would help me to follow you thought. Or at least use two spaces after each period, thanks. |

Sorry about the vaugness .I will try and be a little more detailed.I will ask you a few questions to get the ball rolling. Who told John the Baptist he could baptise? Who told Joan of Arch that she would help save france.Who told martin luther. that the Just shall live by faith. Then there is the Baptists the renewel of water baptism, and so forth. How does God comunicate? 1. large voice, paul and Jesus.2 small still voice,elijah.3 fire, moses.4. angels. joseph, daniel, john, mary, paul etc.visions, daniel amos. ezekiel, job, isaiah, jerimiah, joel, micah, solomon etc.5. Dreams, daniel, joseph, jerimiah, paul etc.5.Burdens, malachi, etc.the lord will use, and has, just one word from His mouth to set a person free.or even two luke 5:27.and if a scripture is standing out more than others then it is the Lord speaking to you.so we should learn that scripture and as we meditate upon it the scripture will open up.this is a rhema word and is confirmed by other means as well. we only know what the Holy Spirit reveals to us ,and that should be Jesus. For the pure in heart shall see God.if God is not in the scripture then we start to look for Him.The author of our faith is the Holy Spirit and finisher. The Key to all interpretation is WHERE IS JESUS IN THIS.? Getting things into context is good, although you can get caught up in the logos and lose the rhema. for not all words that come from God are in context to our natural way of thinking, for His ways are higher than our ways. The point being if God Speaks to a woman and says i have placed a desire in your heart to start a church to bring people to Me to serve and love and to set them free by My Blood. Then so be it, i dont want to tell God that He is not doing what i think He should be doing .There is neither male nor female in God .YIC. |

You are right about Martin Luther's focus on "the just shall live by faith". Yes he got that from God, but so did all the Catholic Church before him, we shouldn't be willing to say they didn't get ift from God because they didn't focus it as well and they didn't dwell on it as much. On the contrary, they demonstrate that while having it from God they in no way understood its real central meaning in the body of Paul's letter as well as Luther. Or even if a few did, they didn't have the strength of character or especially the call from God to pursue the truth of it. But they had the truth, and they got it from God just like Luther could get it. Getting things in context is what you and I and everyone else do when we assign a meaning to something. The problem occurs when the actual effort has been short-cutted or not done at all. Even then, we assign a meaning to something and it now receives meaning for our purpose to use it over the author's purpose to use it. How can we have that right? This leads to disorder and God's Holy Word being made non-sense. Now, some might say wait a minute I thought we are to live by faith like Daniel or Paul etc. enough of this textual stuff, that's just too much scholarship and it isn't about that. True it is not really about scholarship at all, it is about a living Spirit and who is He and what has He done? So, while one can get caught up in the logos I and lose the rhema, it won't happen if you are reading with the indwelling Spirit of God. Don't every worry about that. In fact the surest way to open ourselves up to the indwelling Spirit of God to lead us into all clarity of Bible study is to value the logos. We become even more able to listen to His promptings (yeah they are sometimes to read a lot more, which I too often shrink away from, but don't want to). Regarding women starting churches, I want to first of all state that if it really is an outgrowth of men neglecting the gift within them, then I never have believed that it is just a sin only. But in our day of Evangelical Feminism and such other oddities, I don't believe that the largest reason for the phenomenon is men not developing their gifts. But that is a concern for me and I would never want to let all the men think that they can just sit on their gift. |
