1 | Is the Law abolished or not? | Eph 2:15 | billk | 57912
"If we are under Christ's headship, we still have an obligation through service to obey the law" There is no "obligation" or duty of obedience (for any reason) after Jesus's death... he fulfilled that TOTALLY with his blood. Now, walking by the sprit, is how we obey, not thru obligation. If we feel "obligated" we will slowly learn to hate the law. Walking in the Sprit, we will slowly, over time, learn to love the law... and thus, obey...out of love not obligation Galations 5:18--- "If you led by the sprit you are not under law" Those two clauses are mutually exclusive...you can't have both at once. Each person needs to make a coice... obligation... or...... what's the best word(s)?.... total dependence??? |

2 | Is the Law abolished or not? | Eph 2:15 | kalos | 57915
You write: 'There is no "obligation" or duty of obedience (for any reason) after Jesus's death.' Oh, good. Now we can run wild. We have no obligations or duties under grace. No duty of obedience? Terrific. Now we don't have to obey God any more. We are "free" to disobey. |

3 | Is the Law abolished or not? | Eph 2:15 | billk | 57934
Kalos I Didn’t say a word about Grace... that wasn’t the point. Dependence on God’s strength and not our own was. Obeying because of an obligation and duty to obey has to result in spiritual pride. It’s too fleshy of a motive... it invites comparison to others. Now if someone said we obey because of pure Thanks and appreciation to the lord for his amazings gifts to us .... that I would agree with. |
