Dear Sister M., Come let us reason together. You wrote: "Also, James tells us about asking amiss that we may consume it upon our lusts (4:3). So when we ask, we have to ask properly (in accordance with His will). And:I believe that if you 1. Delight thyself also in the LORD: 2. Then… he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Ps 37:4 I admit that you have made a plausible argument in support of praying for luxuries. If God gives you the desire then why would it be wrong to ask Him to provide whatever it is that we want? Rom 12:2 How would you, Sister M., comfort the child's grieving Mother? I have never had a child, thus never lost a child and thus have no experience with how devastating that can be. The following scriptures comes to mind: Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 2 Cor 1:3-4 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad. Proverbs 12:25 A word fitly spoken [is like] apples of gold in pictures of silver. Proverbs 25:11 I would pray for the widsom to fitly speak a good word. Abba Father bless... Meredith |
