I hope you don't mind my jumping in here, but when I read your statement, a Biblical example of persons besides the Apostles who had charismatic gifts quickly came to mind. Acts 21:9 notes that Philip the evangelist had four unmarried daughters who prophesied. Prophecy is one of the charismatic gifts. Be blessed.... |

Hi Out of the miry clay! The passage you mentioned precedes yet another: Act 21:10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus. 11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. So Agabus also was a prophet, who spoke the words of the Holy Spirit. But it would seem not him only: Act 20:22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: 23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. Now we are not, to be sure, told how the Holy Spirit spoke to Paul in every city he went to. But the example given in the next chapter was through a prophet, so it would not be a great stretch to think that these other times would also be through prophets. Love in Christ, Mark |
