Greetings Cajam! I'm not worried my friend! Jesus saved me when I was six years old. I have been walking with Him now for 33 years, and He gets sweeter and sweeter every day. :-) John MacArthur has an excellent question that he likes to use when people say, 'This is what Scripture means to me!'. He asks them, 'What would this verse mean if you weren't here?' :-) Mt. 28:19 is a direct quote of Jesus. It doesn't matter what it means to me. It doesn't matter what it means to you. All that matters is what does it actually say! It does not say, 'baptizing in the name of Jesus'. It does not list only one name! It says, 'baptizing in the name of the Father, AND of the Son, AND of the Holy Spirit'. 'Precept upon precept' and 'line upon line' both refer to the actual content of God's Word. We must base our doctrine upon what the text actually says, not upon what we would like it to say. p.s. - I haven't a clue what your last question refers to? Am I lying to the Holy Ghost by believing what the text actually says? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

If there was more than one name then it would say names (plural) and not name (singular). Jesus did not have to tell his diciples in those term because they knew what he was saying. If the name of the Father is different from the name of the Son. Then if you be the son of God. What is your Father's name? What son is it that don't know his Father's name? You believe what you think the text is actually says. You miss the actual meaning to the precept and line. Only One is viewed and followed as it should be.Both is the Word of God. | ||||||
