1 | Does Christ stand alone for salvation?? | Acts 4:12 | Aspiring Overseer | 33333
Gentlemen, You are correct in saying that Christ is the only way to salvation, however, you miss the mark in offering the popular adage, "works do(es) not save us". Scripture tells us that those who believe in Him should not perish (John 3:16), but it is clear this is conditional. Even the demons believe and shudder. Those who believe have eternal life, but those who disobey shall incur the wrath of God (JO 3:36). Further, Hebrews 5:9 tells us that Christ is the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. Sounds like there might be some effort involved, eh? Finally, Paul instructs us to "work out your salvation with fear and trembling" in Phil 2:12. This is curious if all we must do is "accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior" by "having faith" in His existance. Paul |

2 | Does Christ stand alone for salvation?? | Acts 4:12 | Hank | 33549
Paul, you say that the belief of John 3:16 is conditional. How is it conditional? On what is it conditional? Our good works? I agree with you that it is "curious" that all we must do for salvation is to have faith (believe) in Christ's existence. It is more than curious; it is wrong. The Bible doesn't teach any such thing as that. Mere faith in Christ's existence is not what Scripture teaches about a faith that saves. --Hank
