Subject: Does Christ stand alone for salvation?? |
Bible Note: Gentlemen, You are correct in saying that Christ is the only way to salvation, however, you miss the mark in offering the popular adage, "works do(es) not save us". Scripture tells us that those who believe in Him should not perish (John 3:16), but it is clear this is conditional. Even the demons believe and shudder. Those who believe have eternal life, but those who disobey shall incur the wrath of God (JO 3:36). Further, Hebrews 5:9 tells us that Christ is the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. Sounds like there might be some effort involved, eh? Finally, Paul instructs us to "work out your salvation with fear and trembling" in Phil 2:12. This is curious if all we must do is "accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior" by "having faith" in His existance. Paul |
