Dear Tim, Read the entire story to see what God "intended." God intended to use Jonah to warn the Ninevites of impending judgment in order that they might ammend their ways in effort to manifest His attributes of universal soverienty, ultimate authority, power over His creation, loving mercy, and benificient longsuffering. How is it that you insist on finding a flaw in God's character when none is needed to undrestand the revelation of Himself that He has provided? In Him, Doc |

Greetings Doc! You misunderstand me my friend. I see no flaw in God's character. I see a flaw in an interpretation that makes God's statement to the Ninevites false. God did not say, "I will destroy Nineveh in 40 day UNLESS YOU REPENT". To say that God only said He was going to destroy them to get them to repent is to make God's statement a lie. God didn't lie. But, we have turned His statement into one in order to harmonize it with our ideas about God. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
