1 | Such thing as a choice? | Eccl 6:10 | Samantha432 | 153019
There are some people who believe that we have free will, choice, and the ability to make our own decisions. Some even say that God changes His mind, so we must have choice.(ex: Sodom and Gomorrah) But when you read this verse from Ecclesiastes 6:10,"Everything has already been decided. It was known long ago what each person would be. So there's no use arguing with God about your destiny," it disproves this theory. So why are people still arguing about it? Or am I missing something?

I think that this scripture in Ecclesiastes has been taken out of context: And if you read just a little before this verse, you will see the other side of the story, in verse 11 it says: He has made everything beutiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men: yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. It also says in 2 Peter 2:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. This scripture alone disproves the theory that we do not have free will, He patiently waits and gives us every opportunity to come to repentance.
