1 | At what moment do we go to heaven? | Eccl 12:7 | Jimmy Diver | 155603
I have been a "born again Christian" for 34 yrs, but I am still confused about "when we go to heaven". Do we go at the moment we die our "earthly" death, or do we lay in limbo until Jesus comes again ? Please keep it simple and provide scripture. Thanks ! Jim (jim@sugarsand.biz) |

2 | At what moment do we go to heaven? | Eccl 12:7 | Bows44 | 155604
I had a personal near death experience a few years ago that I believe this scripture proves is true (although having experienced it I know it is true, we do like to have scriptural basis for our experiences)...Jesus was walking me to Heaven and we stopped in a bright white room. Jesus spoke to me and gave me the choice to go on [to heaven] or to stay [here on earth.] Because of my son and husband, I chose to stay. Based on Eccl. 12:7, Phil. 1:21 and 2 Corinthians 5:5-8 as well as this personal experience, I believe that our spirit goes straight to heaven when we die. You may also do a word search on second death to gain a clear understanding of what death is. Death means separation. When we physically die, our spirit is separated from our body. When we are spiritually dead, we are separated from God. Hope this helps. Bows44 |

3 | At what moment do we go to heaven? | Eccl 12:7 | DocTrinsograce | 155632
Hi, Bows... Let's be hasty to add that experiences are not the measure of truth. Indeed, experiences can be misinterpreted, misleading, or even deceiving! If God says something, it is true, no matter what we might experience to the contrary. Furthermore, our experience does not add even an infinitesimally tiny drop to the enormous ocean of reliability of the truth of God. We walk by faith, not by sight (i.e., experiences) (2 Corinthians 5:7). I'm sure you'll agree. However, I thought it important to assure others of this truth who might otherwise misunderstand. This is enormously important to a sound doctrinal position on the authority of Scripture. In Him, Doc |

Dear Doc, Whether you like it or not people have experiences. Those experiences make up a large part of who each of us are. I have read your background and understand why you believe the way you do. However, that is not a license to disregard the experiences of others just because they don't line up with your personal belief system, especially when they are scriptural. Can you show me scripturally that experiences count for nothing? 1 Per 3:15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence The people this was originally written to did not have "THE Bible" as we have it today. What were they supposed to use to give an account for the hope that was in them except their personal experiences of the power of God in their lives. Many people today don't accept the Bible as the word of God or don't even believe in God until someone shares with them in love personal experiences. Then they realize that God is real and cares about people. I have won several to the Lord by sharing personal experiences with them. Rev. 12:11 "And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. So I will continue to share my experiences with others if it encourages them in the Lord or helps them come to Jesus. Also, sharing my personal experiences of God's love, power, kindness, mercy, awesomeness, etc. brings honor and glory to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To a lost and dying world who is hungry for a God of the here and now, personal experiences are the life line they need. Speaking the truth in love... Bows44 |

Dear Bows, So, you've got me pegged! I sure wish I was as simple to myself as I am to you! :-) But... Oh my! I wasn't expecting that kind of a reaction. I had thought I was speaking rhetorically to you. Perhaps you need to find an Experience Study Forum? If your experience is touted as having greater authority than the Scriptures, you are at odds with the agreement you signed when coming into the forum. Since you have asserted that your experience is more important than the Scripture, I should be asking YOU for Scriptural proof of that! Of course, experiential proof of such a thing would have more heavily with you! :-) I will be the gentleman, than, and take up your challenge to find Scriptural support for the superiority of the Word over experience. Let me give it a shot! As in my previous passage, I pointed out 2 Cor 5:7, "For we walk by faith, not by sight." Here we are commanded not to let experience lead us, but faith! Need we more? For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (Romans 8:14) Wait! Here is a type of experience we are ordered to have! Experience in the Word! For indeed because of the time you are due to be teachers, yet you need to have someone to teach you again the rudiments of the beginning of the Words of God, and you came to be having need of milk, and not of solid food; for everyone partaking of milk is without experience in the Word of Righteousness, for he is an infant. (Hebrews 5:12-13) These are just very few... but I have to hit the sack -- long day tomorrow. Chew on those and see if you can pull out of them that experience is more important than Scripture. Talk to you tomorrow! :-) In Him, Doc |
