1 | And if it's not | Eccl 12:7 | Hank | 155696
Russ, when I was a young man, I knew a much older man who was fond of telling of his experiences with Jesus. He never seemed to tire of it or run out of new experiences to tell. He was not only the town's most prolific "witness" of religious experiences, but near and far it was known that he was also the town drunk. For some reason, perhaps an understandable one, I have been since then more than a little skeptical of just about everybody's reports of personal experiences and private revelation. There is no personal experience that comes any where close to the power of the gospel of Christ. The most powerful witness is to share that gospel, to find a sinner willing to listen and "preach unto him Jesus" as Philip did to the eunuch in Acts 8:29-39. We let our light shine by who we are and the Christ-like lives we lead, not by pandering to our listeners' credulity by relating esoteric near-death experiences, whether real or imagined. --Hank
