1 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232725
When you say it was special for the Jews wouldn't it be important to Paul seeing that he was a Jew?? (blood-line) Well spoken they didn't feel like he did but my question is did he not based on what "they" believed a person can believe what they want but the truth is the truth. Which goes back to my original question did Jesus keep the Sabbath?? (Luke 2:41-42;Luke 22nd chapter; John
2 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | EdB | 232730
Okay you are losing me. I'm not sure what you are saying. Yes Jesus as a Jew kept the Sabbath but as His ministry progressed and Jesus started teaching the precepts of the New Covenant that would soon come into being he placed less and less importance on the the Sabbath. As for Paul yes when Paul was a Jew he kept the Sabbath but as he converted to the Christianity he didn't keep the Sabbath as such but used it to share the Good News of the Gospel with the Jews that did asemble for the Sabbath. |

Bradk, I sorry I meant to address that Paul will aways be a Jew (nationality) and that has nothing to do with him being converted to following and teaching the principles of Christ. So are you saying that when he was converted that he stopped keeping the Sabbath? Then Acts 18:4 must be addressed becuase it destroys your point. |

4 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | EdB | 232744
I don't think Acts 18:4 destroys anything. It simply shows Paul knew where people that feared God would be so he could go there and share the Good News with them. Paul also most likely broke the Sabbath day walking limit by going there. Bear in mind literature from the early Christians show that many kept both the Sabbath and Sunday worship. Old habits are hard to break. But the Book of Hebrews was written to help many let go of the past. Paul also talked about Sabbaths in col 2:16. Incidentally I hope you know there were many Sabbaths besides the weekly Sabbath. The day after the Passover was ‘The Sabbath’ or ‘High Sabbath’, read Lev 23. In this chapter Sabbaths are referred to as Holy Convocations. |

EdB, The thing that gets me is whenever I point out that he clearly kept the Sabbath that's when people starts putting in their own opinion. Once again we don't know if he traveled or not on the Sabbath (the bible doesn't say) but to make a statement such as "clearly" that's when I say show me it's statements such as those and topics such as this misleads people. Yes I'm fully aware of Lev 23rd Chap and I keep them as well becaue he said that they were pertucal covenants. Once again if you look into why/how Sunday worship came about I'm sure it would bring the Sabbath into a different perpestive (if you haven't already) My point once again is you can worship God any day of the week. But Out of all of those days he made (holy) and no other day. Yes we are required to live everyday holy; but God said one day is and not the other six. (Ex 20:8-11) So seeing that Jesus was a Sabbath keeper as well as the rest of the disciples I read on that point. be blessed |
