1 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | EdB | 232721
You mention Paul and the Sabbath Act 18:4 he wasn't keeping the Sabbath but instead was doing the Lord's work. In all probability Paul was in violation of the Sabbath laws by walking too far. We also know that Paul preached on the first day of the week Acts 20:7 Paul also instructed them to put aside benevolence money on the first day of the week. (doing the work of the Lord) 1 Cor 16:2 |

2 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232722
Edb, Yes sir indeed the was doing the Lord's work on Sabbath and first of the week. To say he wasn't keeping the Sabbath is streching it seeing that he was a chief Pharisee from the tribe of Benjamin and the law was given to Isreal. Well then Acts 17:2 should be addressed as well as Acts 13. I think we can agree the Jesus was a Sabbath keeper (right?) To address your comment about him walking to far when the commandments were given (Old Testament they didn't need to walk that far seeing that the sactuary was always in the middle of the camp wherever they went. My second point is Jesus stated that the priest prfaned the Sabbath and they were blameless (Mat 12:5). Whenever healed a person on the Sabbath they (Pharisees) accused him of working, and he would respond be saying it was lawful to do good on the Sabbath. If that day wasn't so special why did they make a issue whenever he did something on that day? huummm.... |

3 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | EdB | 232723
To the Jew the day was special, that is why they made an issue of it. However Jesus did not keep the Sabbath according to their point of view. He violated it by doing work on it, which under their law was forbidden. The synagogues were close enough that a family would not violate the Sabbath walk however Paul went from synagogue to synagogue so he would have in fact violated the Sabbath walk. Yes Paul was one a chief Pharisee but Paul was set free of the law by becomming a Christian. |

When you say it was special for the Jews wouldn't it be important to Paul seeing that he was a Jew?? (blood-line) Well spoken they didn't feel like he did but my question is did he not based on what "they" believed a person can believe what they want but the truth is the truth. Which goes back to my original question did Jesus keep the Sabbath?? (Luke 2:41-42;Luke 22nd chapter; John
5 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232726
John 7th Chapter it was a custom of the Jews to celebrate in Jersalem on the feast days (Lev 23rd chapter) by the way to save conversation the blood of Jesus did away with all of the sacrifices. |

Again I'm not real sure I know what you are saying here. Could you repeat this and make your point a little clearer perhaps?
7 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232737
Bradk, My point is that the Sabbath was important to Jesus, alot of people believe that Sabbath was done away with. Now you pointed out that Jesus rose the first day of the week (based on what you wrote) Now a person can't get 3 days from Friday and end up with Sunday. In the passage of Matt 28:1 the Sabbath was on the seventh day. Yes Jesus came to preach the Kingdom of God. All I'm saying is that the Sabbath should be kept by all people not just "Jews" only Based on Mark 2:27 becuase he didn't day a particular group of people. Hope that clears things up.... Be bleassed |

8 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | EdB | 232746
Actually the Sabbath talked about in the relation to Jesus' crucifixion was not the 7th day Sabbath but the Sabbath that followed Passover. It was referred to as "The Sabbath" which the Sabbath after Passover was often referred to as. Our rest is no longer in the Sabbath rest but in the rest Jesus gave us. AS far as honoring God and worshipping God if you only set aside one day to do this then you are in error. We are to be in constant prayer and supplication, worshipping always. Taking one day to act pious is not what God is seeking he is seeking men and women that are sold out everyday and live Christ before the world each and everyday. |
