1 | question to smoke pot or not | Gen 1:12 | Hank | 54723
Brad, just moments ago, before reading your post in which you pointed out that pot is, among other things, an illicit and controlled substance, I listened to a radio news cast on which was the story about a regional athlete who was stopped by police for speeding and subsequently was found to be high on pot and was arrested. The thought crossed my mind: what would it do to my witness for Christ if I were arrested for speeding and being high on pot, and in the news cast it was said that this man is a member of First Baptist Church? And what if, after spending a few days in the slammer, I visited a friend to talk to him about Jesus. My friend says, "Hank, I thought you were going to call on me last week." And I confess, "Well, I'd meant to you see, but I was arrested for speeding and being high on pot, and just this morning got out of jail. Sorry for the delay. I hope you understand. Now, let's talk about Jesus..." How great an impact am I likely to make? Has my witness been clouded by the smoke of pot? --Hank

I appreciate your view point. I also appreciate your illustration. Just as one should not drink and drive a preson should not drive under the influence of medications that have the ability of altering perception at high doses. A person can regulate the amount they ingest, inhale or digest. Pot has a bigger stigma on it than needs to be. The bad rap is from those who have had a prejudice towards it based on people who have abused it. In low doses , for some individuals, THC is very beneficial. Just as doctors prescribe medicine such as Paxil and Prozac for clinical depression.. Yes Christians can and do get clinically depressed and it is not because they are not seeking God or have unconfessed sin. Ultimately it is sin that has caused all disease and chemical imbalances. I view pot as a safer altenative to these other harmful man made drugs. I was on Ritalin and Adoral when I was a child . My grandma got me off of it because of its harmful side affects. As a adult and having had sufficient enough experience , both possitive and negative, in the area of pot use, I can see the benefit of this herb when used wisely and in small doses, through eating it instaed of smoking. 3 | question to smoke pot or not | Gen 1:12 | BradK | 54734
Dear Jeshuafreak, I would trust that my somewhat sarcastic remarks did in no way offend you, brother. I am not a Doctor obviously, so there may well be some legitimate medical useage for Marijuana. I would venture to say it's a small minority. My points are strictly intended for those who would use their "liberty in Christ for an opportunity for the flesh". The distinction between drug abuse and "legitimate" medical applications is pretty fine. Yours In Christ, Bradk |
