NASB | John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 1:1 In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. [Gen 1:1; Is 9:6] |
Bible Question: Most Bibles use, as a cross reference to John 1:1, Genesis 1:1. I'm thinking that "beginning" here means two different things. In Genesis beginning refers to the earth after the fall of Satan. In John 1:1, the beginning refers to before all time...."The" beginning. Any comments? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Chemprof! The Table of Periodic Elements does not begin to address all of the resources that were at God's disposal in creating the heavens and the earth! :-) John 1:1 speaks of the Word, or the Son (Christ), who was already in existence with God, as God, before the world became into existence. Therefore, John 1:1-3 is referring to the creation of the world, the same as Genesis 1:1. But what Genesis 1:1 clearly states that John 1:1-3 explains, is that God in all His fullness; that being God the Father (John 1:1), God the Son (the Word), and God the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:2), was present to create the heavens and the earth into existence! Genesis 1:1 (the creation of the world) does not necessarily have to occur AFTER the fall of Satan. As stated in Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1 mentions the heavens and the earth being created. Therefore, it is most likely AFTER Genesis 1:1 that Satan fell, since Satan would have to be 'created' first in order to 'fall.'
