Subject: INVITATION |
Bible Note: Hank(:-) Having attended six years in a Calvary Chapel Church I have experienced what not having membership means and is like. The Pastor and the Elders control everything, and the Pastor makes all decisions final. When the Elders say what the Church will do that is it. Having been a Baptist all my life before this, I found it interesting to watch how the church functioned without membership. I can say the church functioned well, and most Calvary Chapels are growing. God uses many ways of church polity. I must admit knowing those who considered themselves to be a part of the church was difficult. The invitation was to raise you hand for prayer or to receive Christ. If the person wanted to get more help they saw the pastor as they went out. As odd as it may seem, many did seek out the pastor and were followed up and later baptized. Amazing is what I say about it. Just to make my information clear and updated Mrs. Justme and me joined a SBC church last Sunday, and we are blessed. We took almost a year to search for a church we felt called to join and be of service. Our souls are at peace and it's wonderful to be home at last. When looking for a church home it can be a time of feeling alone and without a home. Hebrews tells us not to give up meeting together, and in searching at times it was discouraging, but God was faithful to lead us. Blessings dear brother to the south, in Arkansas. justme |
