Subject: Were the disciples saved, Born Again? |
Bible Note: Greetings, With regards to being born again of the water and of the Spirit. It’s rather redundant to say if one isn’t born of the flesh, taking water as the representative of that action, that they can’t be born of the Spirit. The fact of the matter is if they were never born of the flesh they wouldn’t exist in the first place, so how could they who don’t exist be born again? The word water is actually a reference to God’s Word. John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. Ephes. 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, The unbeliever can never be born again apart from the Word of God. Being born again is instantaneous when one believes the gospel of salvation that resides in the person of Jesus Christ. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Believers actually become pregnant by the Word of God which causes berth the birth. James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. The English word (engrafted) is the Koine Greek word EMPHUTOS and it means impregnated. When a believer takes in God’s message of Jesus and they believe in Him then God the Holy Spirit brings our human spirit to life in regeneration. It’s all a grace operation apart from anything man can do!! God gets all the credit; He plants the seed and brings about the birth. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. CDBJ |
