Bible Question:
God's day to you, Lionheart As I pointed out in post 216712 ... If we study the book of Acts, six of the seven conversion experiences the believers were baptized the same day believed, why we we wait? The exception was Paul. Most don't delay allow any believer from taking the Lord's Supper. We have is kacbwards. Seracher |
Bible Answer: Searcher:-) Communion is either open or closed. Unless the pastor gives instructions on who can patrake of the elements then many unbaptised believers might think as long as they have surrendered to Christ they can partake. I have never been in a church that Commmunion was restricted to that churches members only, but I know they do exist. As I think more about it there may well be a valid point in not partaking of Communion until one has been baptised. I am not sure if there is solid scriptyal evidence either for or against partaking of Communion before being baptised. This does merit some indepth study on the subject on my part. Perhaps this might be turned into a situation ethics type of thing. There are several "what if's" in this situation I can think of. For instance, what if, a elderly bedridden person surrenders to Christ, can they partake of Communion? I know you can think other such cases. So Seracher what are your thoughts? What authority does the church have in making the requirements? This is a good subject for dialogue, maybe it will strile up some good thoughts. Blessings justme |
