Subject: can a child be baptised |
Bible Note: Searcher:-) It's ok and no need to feel like you are less a Christian because you are not in total agree ment with the Baptist Faith and Message. I have some real disagreements as well. I am a Christian that has agreed to fellowship and support my local body of believers which are SBC. I have sprinklesd an older lady that was near death that insisted I baptised her. In sprinkling her I said it was a symbol of immersion. I have no issue about sprinkling when immersion is not a possibility. My basic under pinnings in the Christian faith are American Baptist. I went to a SBC College, and an American Baptist Seminary so I have some mixed theology in my system. The biggest issue many baptist would have with me is, I believe in ordaining women and I believe women can serve as pastors. Women serve on the mission field in every church position you can think of. In the eighteen hundreds if it were not for women pastors in the US, our growing country would have not had near as many churches or Christians. I believe Scripture does allow women to be in such positions. I have been fully taken to task on my beliefs about women and don't want debate this over again, as I would rather just let whoever think as God leads them. The only Denomination that I find rather angry in nature the GARB which in their statement of faith openly attacks the ABC USA. I don't argue with that either. Searcher as you know Scripture says we are to be convicted that what we believe is truth from Scripture. Minor things are open for debate, solid Doctrines are not. I consider the differences we have as open between us. You are a brother who is well studied and I totally respect you. Blessings. justme |
