Bible Question: what happens if you are baptized twice do i shame jesus |
Bible Answer: When speaking of "WATER BAPTISM", once is enough, but I know of no place in Scripture where it is prohibited to be baptized more than that. Several people are baptized at least once more if they are given the chance to be baptized in the Jordan River in Israel. As water baptism is an outward sign of an inward work, one is dead to sin and death and reborn to life (Romans 6:3-4). John the Baptist, or baptizer, began using baptism as a "symbolic washing" and repentance (Matthew 3). Jesus himself gave us an example when He went to John the baptist to be baptized. Interesting to note in this passage in Matthew 3:13-17, I believe this is the only place in scripture where the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all present in some degree at the same time. Jesus, the Son of God emerges from the water; the Holy Spirit descending upon Him; and the Father speaks out of Heaven. As with everything, the Lord looks upon the motive of our hearts. If there is some reason you feel the "need" to be water baptized again, that is between you and the Lord. If you have a "desire" to show your commitment to Him by being baptized again, I'm quite sure He would smile. Submitted with Love |
