Bible Question:
When GOD refers to Himself as "Our" Heavenly Father does this refer to all mankind or just to believers in Jesus Christ? I don't find the term in the old testament. |
Bible Answer: Hi Little Butch, There are many more knowledgeable than myself on this forum but let me get you started here: Exod. 4:22-23 is the first place I can think of where God speaks of Himself as Father. Exo 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh: Thus saith the LORD: Israel is My son, My first-born. Exo 4:23 And I have said unto thee: Let My son go, that he may serve Me; and thou hast refused to let him go. Behold, I will slay thy son, thy first-born.' - So, it looks like it began with the Hebrews (being the Chosen people), but is all inclusive. God is the Creator of all, therefore, He is the Heavenly Father of all, even those who don't know Him. Stand in His Grace Cheri |
