Bible Question:
Dear John, You stated "Faith is indeed a gift as it is specifically listed as one. And we can refuse a gift if we choose to. This to me is an axiom." I agree with you that Faith is a gift. But will you, please, demontrate from the Bible, that Faith is given to all men universally? Thanks, Hobbs |
Bible Answer: Hi Hobbs! The Bible doesn't say that faith is given to all, i.e. saving faith that is, but we know that all are born with a conscience, and, I think it is easy to see, that that is the working of the holly spirit. I believe that all people are born with a conscience. This is part of what is known as general revelation, i.e. the heavens declare His glory. Unless you have a mental deficiency called sociopathy, i.e. the inability to think in terms of right and wrong, the fact is, that all people are born with a conscience. This is to most clear thinking theologians, a very clear evidence of the fact, that the Holly Spirit is in the world, and has influence over men. So, this gives all men the opportunity to choose good over evil, or evil over good. Satin influences people to do evil, God influences people to do good. This is what is called horse sense, or common sense. And, no, there is no clear reference in scripture that proves or disproves its existence. But we all know that common sense exists because we can see it. If you stick your hand in the fire, you will get burned! God Bless. John |
