Bible Question: Amen Hank. I have 33 bibles (just counted them) and 5 commentaries, dictionaries, and concordances. I think that I often get so wrapped up in what is the best translation to study that I defeat my purpose and don't study enough. Instead I'm reading books like The King James Version Debate, New Age Versions, The Translation Debate, and The Complete Guide to Bible Versions. I'm addicted to finding the right version when I should be reading A Bible! The best Bible is Read! I have not read the HCSB, but as you can see by my exasperation, I probably will. I have only heard the rummor of a new NKJV here on this forum. Let's sell all of the Books that we don't use regularly and set up a StudyBible Forum Group cruise! Jim |
Bible Answer: Jim -- I just recently waded through Carson's "KJV Debate" skipping the parts that were deplorably boring, which means I read about half the book, and concluded it wasn't really worth the effort. .... I have said on the forum before that it seems a worthy project to adopt a good version and stick by it for the most part. Instead of pooling all the extra Bibles forum users collect dust with to finance a group cruise, why not donate them to Madagascar. There would be enough to provide every man, woman and child there a copy of the Bible. The only thing we'd have to do is teach them to read English :-) --Hank |
