Bible Question:
Question: In Matthew 5:9 Jesus says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." Is this refering to people who make peace between countries, or people groups or individuals; or does it refer to Christians who labor to reconcile (make peace between) the unbeliever and the Father? I ask this because with the the US elections quickly approaching, this was mentioned as a topic for discussion when choosing whom to vote for. For it seems that at least one candidate is not a "peacemaker" if viewed in the non-spiritual sense. My personal thought is that if one is called a peacemaker and for this reason also a "son of God" then peacemakers seems to refer to reconcilers. Any thoughts? |
Bible Answer: The candidate I am sure you refer to as not being a peace maker, is doing the same thing you would do if someone who would not listen to reason were killing children elsewhere and trying to kill your children. I am sure you would fight for their lives to your last drop of blood. Wouldn't you? What is the difference? On the other hand, the other candidate who pretends to be a peace maker, advocates murder in the form of abortion, as well as the abomination of same sex marriage. If you were to vote for one who advocates such, you would be just as guilty as is the doctor who sucks the cranial matter (brains) out of the tiny, partially born, helpless, unwanted, infant, or the so called preacher who claims to unite two men or two women in the bonds of what can only be refered to as "unholy" matrimony.
