Bible Question: What is King David's full name? |
Bible Answer: At this time in history a person was known by his first name only. If more information would be needed to further pin point a person his/her fathers name would be used and if even further narrowing down had to be done his place of birth or where he lived would be added. There are indications that occupation was also used. Thus David would be David son of Jesse, of the city of Bethlehem the shepherd and later king. However his name became King David which totally described him since there were no other King David’s of Israel. Many of our last names come from occupations such as Baker, Miller, Cook, Smith, etc and also from places or objects Jones, Franklin, Forrest, Field, etc. Hope this helps EdB |
