Bible Question: if i want to serve the lord should i do it under the covering of a minisrty? |
Bible Answer: I would respond with scripture 1 Tim 6:17 Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. 18 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed. This is some of the positive motivation and now for the other side, the Lord does give us some negative to motivate us from: James 4:17 Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin. Christ Jesus puts it like this Luke 9:23 And He was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. 27 "Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. I don't think God could have been any more clear. We can call this working for the Master, working in His vineyard, doing good deeds, call it almost anything you like. All I know is it's NOT an option and this guidance applies to everyone who really wants to go to Heaven. I prefer to call what I'm doing for the Lord my ministry of service to Him. I'll be the first to admit we're all tempted to take a vacation now and again. We're even tempted to think at some point, we've earned a retirement but then I look again at the examples from God's Word, especially His Son, our Lord and King and then I feel ashamed. I hope this helps in your resolve to be obedient. God bless. Rowdy |
