Subject: Age of Miracles - Past or Present |
Bible Note: Greetings Rowdy! You wrote: "Never, not even once in all the Bible, did the spiritual condition of the recipient ever impede the execution or the quality of the miracle in the Bible." Yet Matt. 13:58 says, "And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith." Mark 6:5 says, "He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6 And he was amazed at their lack of faith." Luke 4:24 says, "'I tell you the truth,' he continued, 'no prophet is accepted in his hometown. 25 I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land. 26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon. 27 And there were many in Israel with leprosy in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.' 28 All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this." I am convinced that many of us never see miracles today because we do not really believe in them anymore, but nothing in Scripture indicates that they are no longer possible or that the gift of healing is no longer dispensed by the Spirit as He chooses.
