Bible Note: Rowdy You said, "I meant no malice or prejudice of any kind toward any one individual, including the Pope. He can repent and follow the commands of Christ just like anyone else and become a Christian. I was merely reflecting what's commonly known in all the history books but just in case...". That statement alone is filled with prejudices and ignorance. It is inflammatory and shows your lack of understanding human sensitivities and the feelings of others. You then said "Papal infallibility is one of the great differences between Catholicism and Protestantism." yet by your own evidence this didn't come into being until 1870 and the reformation that split the Catholic and Protestant church happened nearly 365 years before. Other differences centered on other doctrine is cited for the reformation but in fact it was more politically motivated than anything else. People in power wanted to be free of Rome. When you get down to it the split between Catholic and Protestantism boiled down to money and power and who would control it. Sure there were issues of works versus grace and the selling of indulgences, papal corruption, etc but fuel the feed the fire of reformation was money and power. I think your right you shouldn’t continue this discussion. EdB |
