Subject: The rest of us? |
Bible Note: Rowdy First we all agree God will respond to us. Is it so hard to believe he responds to a man that has basically dedicated his whole life to serving God? Secondly how is this position any different than a leader of a denomination that says we are all going this direction? Third which is better everyone deciding for themselves what is correct or a man who has dedicated himself to the study of theology serving the church and serving God. Fourth which of his infallible utterances do you find so distrubing that your sure God would never have inspired them? While I'm not Catholic and no fan of Papal infallibility I can also see problems that have arisen in the Protestant church because no leader was willing to stand up and say "thus saith the Lord" whether through inspiration given directly or understanding of Scripture. Some prime examples are the Methodist and Episcoplian stance on homosexuality. Today is seems nearly every leader dances a tighrope of trying to please everyone. At least the Catholic church is showing some spine by saying if you hold the abortion position you should not recieve sacrements. I think the Pope and every leader of true Christianity today needs to stand up and say if you love Jesus you will not support a pro abortion, pro homosexual. I think they can say it with infallibility and when that fact is claimed many will disagree. Lastly the issue of Papal infallibility to my understanding is a very long distance to position of God for which you claimed to be the Pope. EdB |
