Subject: The second coming of Jesus |
Bible Note: There is figurative language in Scripture. The Psalms and OT prophecy are full of it. For example, the Babylonian invasion and captivity is often explained using cosmic symbolism: "Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, And the earth will be shaken from its place At the fury of the LORD of hosts In the day of His burning anger." --Isaiah 13:13 I wouldn't ever argue that it is a free-for-all in determining whether something should be taken literally or not, but to say that there is no figurative language in Scripture is not precisely correct. --Joe! |
