Subject: tribulation vs. wrath |
Bible Note: CDBJ The following scripture comes to mind; Therefore be on the alert, for YOU do not know which day YOUR LORD is coming. But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the theif was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. For this reason YOU be ready too; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when YOU do not think He will (Matthew 24:42-44 NASB) The question I have for you my friend is concerning those pronouns in this text. The words "you" and "your" Who is Jesus speaking to ? Is "you" and "your" in this text referring to believers or unbelievers? Who is this text addressed to? I personally believe Jesus is speaking to believers. The reason I believe that can be seen in verse 42 where it says; "your Lord" That could not be referring to the unsaved. And look at what He says in verse 44: "you be ready" (be ready is a key phrase) "you be ready ... for the Son of Man is coming at an hour WHEN YOU DO NOT THINK HE WILL." We are to be patiently waiting for His return. We are to be prepared and ready at all times.(see Luke 12:35-40 on this also) Finally, just one more excellent verse concerning being prepared and ready: Rev. 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
