Bible Question:
What does Rev. 2:4 mean when it says: "thou hast left thy first love"? Secondly can this verse be cross referenced with 1 Tim. 5:12 which says; "they have cast off their first faith"? What does this mean? Are these verses intended for a certain group of people, or are they written also for our learning, admonition and warning? Rom. 15:4 and 1 Cor. 10:11 In Christ zach† |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... 1Co 7:32-25, 1Ti 5:12 (context 9-16), Rev 2:4 ... Greetings, zach† ... These may not be related. The context of 1Ti 5:12 is verse 9-16, which deals with the widow. A younger one may remarry, therefore no longer be totally pledged to the Lord (1Co 7:32-25, even if it leaves out widows). Rev 2:4 is dealing with the church body, not an indivdual. Nonetheless, I wouldn't be dogmatic to say these passages are not related. IMHO. Searcher |
