Bible Question:
What Bible passage or paragraph states specifically that Jesus died for our Sins? As for me I think the Bible is a very complex text written on three esoteric levels akin to teachings of Origen of Alexandria "Unlike most hard-line, dogmatic believers of his day Origen believed that the Bible ...Contains three levels of meaning, corresponding to the threefold Pauline (and Platonic) division of a person into body, soul and spirit. The bodily level of Scripture, the bare letter, is normally helpful as it stands to meet the needs of the more simple. The psychic level, corresponding to the soul, is for making progress in perfection. [The] spiritual in-terpretation deals with 'unspeakable mysteries' so as to make humanity a "partaker of all the doctrines of the Spirit's counsel". Bible Answer: Greeting The Scribe and welcome to the forum. The direct answer to your question is found in. 1 Cor. 15:1-3 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, [2] by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. [3] For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, Galatians 1:1-4 Paul, an apostle (not sent from men, nor through the agency of man, but through Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead), [2] and all the brethren who are with me, to the churches of Galatia: [3] Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, [4] who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us out of this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 1 John 2:1-2 My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; [2] and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. 1 John 4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Since sin has been paid for by the person of God Son, Jesus the appointed one, sin isn’t really the main issue now. The main issue is; what thank you of Christ. The only sin the Jesus didn’t pay for on the cross was the sin of one’s rejecting Jesus as their personal Saviour. Jesus said the following; John 16:7-9 (NASB) "But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper shall not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. [8] "And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgment; [9] concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; 2 Cor. 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 1 John 5:10-13 (NASB) The one who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness that God has borne concerning His Son. [11] And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. [12] He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. [13] These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life. Enjoy the forum, CDBJ |
